PlayhouseSquare Announces New 2013-2014 KeyBank Broadway Series

PlayhouseSquare revealed its 2013-2014 KeyBank Broadway Series yesterday evening in the State Theatre. The exciting seven-show Series was announced by Senior Vice President of Theater Operations, Gina Vernaci, and the evening was capped off with a special performance from Anne Brummel, star of the 2nd North American Tour of Wicked, which will be delighting Cleveland audiences once again with its return in December of 2013. THE IRISH AND HOW THEY GOT THAT WAY Opens at Somerville's Davis Square Theatre, 1/24-3/17

Written by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Frank McCourt (Angela's Ashes, 'Tis), The Irish and How They Got That Way tells the story of the Irish experience on both sides of the pond. It's imbued with McCourt's unique humor and draws on his personal experience as an Irish-American. Told through a revue of songs, this sometime irreverent but always loving look at the Irish people includes such immortals as "Danny Boy," "The Rose of Tralee, and "Harrigan"-the works of George M. Cohan including "Give My Regards to Broadway," "You're A Grand Ole Flag" and "I'm A Yankee Doodle Dandy"-to music from modern-day Irish rockers U2. (more...)

The New Theater at 45th Street & New York Music/Theatre Project presents the New York City premiere of the children's musical BILLY, GOAT, GRUFF: The Musical, at The New Theater at 45th Street. Directed by Chris Fink & Amanda Sayles, BILLY, GOAT, GRUFF: The Musical, features a talented cast of eight, with credits from the National Tour of Jekyll & Hyde Legally Blonde to NYMF's 'Next Broadway Sensation' to Andrew Lloyd Webber's Whistle Down The Wind. Originally scheduled to open on April 6, the new opening date of April 19, was set to accommodate a conflict in dates at the theatre. (more...)

Broadway San Jose, a partnership between the Nederlander organization of New York and Team San Jose, announced the six shows in its 2013-14 Season today at an event attended by approximately 500 Subscribers and community leaders at the San Jose Center for Performing Arts in downtown San Jose. Headlining the Broadway San Jose season will be a three-week run of WICKED, the Tony Award winning musical that maintains its position as the top selling musical on Broadway, nine years after its premiere. Broadway's Danny Quadrino (Bye Bye Birdie), Andrea Ross (Whistle Down The Wind) and Lindsey Carothers (Bring It On) are among the cast of Pace University students for a one night only concert of songs and monologues by award-winning theater writer Drew Fornarola (COLLEGE The Musical, Molly Shannon's Tilly The Trickster). The show plays at The Duplex Cabaret Theatre (61 Christopher Street at 7th Ave) tonight, April 22nd at 9:30pm. The evening is curated and directed by Joshua W.
