At long last, the secrets are revealed, the poems and mysteries are illuminated, and the story of Emily Dickinson is told as you've never heard it before. In Cape May Stage's upcoming production of William Luce's 'The Belle of Amherst,' opening October 17 and running through October 27 at the Robert Shackleton Playhouse, director Austin Pendleton paints a poignant portrait of Emily Dickinson, showing sides of the reclusive poet never seen before on stage. Rogue Machine Presents THREE VIEWS OF THE SAME OBJECT West Coast Premiere Tonight, 9/15

Winning the prestigious Woodward/Newman Award for best play, while being developed at Rogue Machine for their 2012 season, brought with it a fully funded production mounted at the Bloomington Play Project in Indiana. It turned out to be one of their most successful projects to date. A Holland New Voices Award came shortly afterwards, and now playwright Henry Murray is ready for its close-up at Rogue Machine, known for staging new works. This will be a West Coast Premiere in one of the country's most vibrant cities for new plays, Los Angeles, opening tonight, September 15, 2012. (more...)

Austin Pendleton to Step in for Louis Zorich in IVANOV

Austin Pendleton will step into the role of Lebedev beginning Friday, October 26 in his production of Anton Chekhov's IVANOV at Classic Stage Company (135 East 13th Street) replacing veteran actor Louis Zorich, who has withdrawn due to a foot injury. Pendleton performed the role of Lebedev in a 1990 production at Yale Repertory. IVANOV, which stars Ethan Hawke, Joely Richardson and Juliet Rylance, and is directed by Pendleton, is currently in previews, prior to an official opening Sunday, November 4. The cast also features Glenn Fitzgerald, Annette Hunt, Stephanie Janssen, Roberta Maxwell, George Morfogen, James Patrick Nelson, Anthony Newfield, Jonathan Marc Sherman, and Anne Troupe. IVANOV will play a limited engagement through Sunday, December 9. (more...)

TOYS IN THE ATTIC to be Released on VOD 3/5

Freestyle Digital Media announces the release of the animated family film Toys in the Attic on VOD in North America on March 5th. The film's English adaptation was written, produced and directed by Vivian Schilling and had a critically acclaimed, national US theatrical release last year. The film stars the voice over talent of Forest Whitaker ("Where the Wild Things Are"), Joan Cusack ("Toy Story 3"), Vivian Schilling ("Ambrose Bierce: Civil War Stories"), Douglas Urbanski ("The Social Network") and Cary Elwes ("Adventures of Tin Tin"). Austin Pendleton is set to play William Shakespeare in Abingdon Theatre Company's Off-Broadway premiere of Robert Brustein's THE LAST WILL, which he will also direct, beginning Friday, April 5 in the June Havoc Theatre (312 West 36th Street).
