Westport Country Playhouse Hosts Playreading Of TRICKS OF THE TRADE

Westport Country Playhouse will present a Script in Hand playreading of the romantic thriller, "Tricks of the Trade," on Monday, March 25, at 7 p.m.  Written by the late Sidney Michaels, who lived in Westport, Connecticut, the reading will be directed by Anne Keefe, Playhouse associate artist and curator of the playreading series. Tickets are $20 each.

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley launched the cast album for The Four Immigrants: An American Musical Manga at an exclusive release party at OPAL Night Club in Mountain View on Monday. The album features an infectious ragtime and vaudeville score by Bay Area composer/lyricist Min Kahng. Drawn from one of the first ever graphic novels, this comic musical follows four Japanese immigrants through a world of possibility and prejudice in turn-of-the-twentieth-century San Francisco. From surviving the tumultuous earthquake of 1906 to an exhilarating World's Fair, audiences can relive the hit show and listen as the determined quartet pursues the American Dream, despite limited options in the land of opportunity. TheatreWorks Silicon Valley kicks off its 48th season with the World Premiere of The Four Immigrants: An American Musical Manga. Drawn from one of the first ever graphic novels, set to an infectious ragtime and vaudeville score by local composer/lyricist Min Kahng, the comic musical follows four Japanese immigrants in a world of possibility and prejudice: turn-of-the-twentieth-century San Francisco. From a tumultuous earthquake to an exhilarating World's Fair, the quartet pursues the American Dream, despite limited options in the land of opportunity. Directed by TheatreWorks Associate Artistic Director Leslie Martinson, and developed at TheatreWorks' 2016 New Works Festival, the World Premiere ofThe Four Immigrants: An American Musical Manga will be presented July 12-August 6, 2017 (press opening: July 15) at Lucie Stern Theatre, 1305 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto. The Capitol Center for the Arts ("CCA") will be alive this summer with singing, dancing, and theatre as it presents performance series by Mr. Aaron, RB Productions and Impact Children's Theatre. The CCA understands the importance of teaching children how to understand and appreciate the performing arts from a young age. Each show encourages children to take pleasure in and emotionally connect to the songs and stories of others. By attending, our littlest patrons can learn both how to express themselves creatively and how to value the creativity of others.
