Tonight, November 28, world-renowned and beloved Italian tenor, Andrea Bocelli, will be returning by popular demand to perform with the Houston Symphony and Houston Symphony Chorus in a special, one-night-only concert at the Toyota Center. The evening's program will feature an all-new program of Bocelli's famed love songs, celebrating much of the repertoire the classical crossover singer has made world-famous over his incredible career, and giving his fans a stirring evening of soaring arias and music from his recent release and PBS special, Live In Central Park. SMASH's MAKE A MUSICAL PROGRAM Announces Winning Schools for Fall Phase - 10 Winners and 20 Finalists

Ten schools across the nation have been selected for the second phase (Fall, 2012) of 'NBC's 'Smash': Make a Musical.' The philanthropic initiative, sponsored by NBC's hit musical drama series 'Smash' and administered by iTheatrics' Junior Theater Project, works with under-served schools across the country to stage their own productions and implement self-sustaining theater programs. Concerts for City Greens is dedicating four of this summer's free, outdoor concerts to the music of its illustrious song contest judges. The award-winning series, that brings the sounds of music to heart of Midtown, will showcase Amanda McBroom (May 30), Neil Sedaka (August 1), Ann Hampton Callaway (September 12) and Michael John LaChuisa (October 3). These four - plus David Friedman and Matthew Parillo - are serving as judges for the first Concerts for City Greens Songwriting Contest. (The quadruple-platinum songwriter and Today Show regular David Friedman provided the theme of last summer's concert finale, and Matthew Parillo, a two-time Emmy Award-winning MTV Networks executive, has yet to begin his songwriting career.) In recognition of The Barn's 45 years of bringing the magic of live theater to the stage, we continue our special series of Onstage at The Barn: Memories from The First 45 Years, with actress Andrea Hodgin Osborne, who made her debut at The Barn in 1994 in Smoke on the Mountain, quickly establishing herself as a favorite of Barn audiences and the Nashville theater community. Among my most vivid memories of Andrea was her performance-along with Tim Fudge and Darren Stuart-of "Our Time" from Stephen Sondheim's Merrily WE Roll Along, which was the closing number for the 1995 First Night Awards at Nashville Children's Theatre (and she toiled, for a while, as my personal assistant). iTheatrics' Junior Theater Project has announced the thirty schools nationwide which are finalists for the second phase of 'NBC's 'Smash': Make a Musical,' a philanthropic initiative sponsored by NBC's new musical drama series 'Smash' which creates sustainable musical theater programs in underserved schools nationwide. America may vote for its top ten favorites at makeamusical.org until May 4th, on May 7 the ten winning schools selected to have a full 'NBC's 'Smash': Make a Musical' program installed in their school will be announced.
