One hundred years ago on the shores of Maine, the African American population of Malaga Island was forced to evacuate their homes under the guise of economic improvement for a nearby, neighboring town. Beginning Fri., March 16, Children’s Theatre Company (CTC) will mark the 100th anniversary of this event by bringing this, and the emotionally charged story of an unlikely friendship, to the stage in Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy. Theatre Exile Presents A BEHANDING IN SPOKANE, 4/19-5/13

Theatre Exile will present the final show of their 15th season with the Philadelphia premiere of A Behanding in Spokane by Martin McDonagh. Directed by Exile's Artistic Director Joe Canuso and starring Pearce Bunting, Amanda Schoonover, Matt Pfeiffer and Reuben Mitchell, A Behanding in Spokane will be running from April 19th to May 13th , with the official press opening on the 25th of April. Barbara Oliver Returns to Aurora Theatre Company for ANATOL, 4/6-5/13

Aurora Theatre Company founding Artistic Director Barbara Oliver returns to the company for its 20th anniversary season to direct Arthur Schnitzler’s (La Ronde) first theatrical work for the stage, ANATOL. This World Premiere translation, commissioned by Aurora Theatre Company, from renowned Schnitzler expert (and Berkeley resident) Margret Schaefer, features Mike Ryan (Shakespeare Santa Cruz) in his Aurora debut as Anatol, along with Aurora veterans Tim Kniffin (Trouble in Mind, The Best Man) and Delia MacDougall (SEX, The Old Neighborhood). ANATOL plays April 6 through May 13 at the Aurora Theatre in Berkeley. For tickets ($30-55) and information the public can call (510) 843-4822 or visit auroratheatre.org. (more...)
