The Little Opera Theatre of NY Presents THE REFORMED DRUNKARD, Now thru 3/24by BWW News Desk - Mar 16, 2013The Little Opera Theatre of NY announces its spring 2013 production of Christoph Willibald Gluck's tragi-comic opera The Reformed Drunkard. Eight performances will be presented from today, MARCH 16-24 at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison Avenues). Performance times are 8:15 pm for Fridays and Todays, including March 16, 22, and 23; 7:15 pm for Tuesday-Thursday performances, March 19-21; and 3:15 pm for two Sunday matinees, March 17 and 24. News Desk - Jan 26, 2013Metropolitan Playhouse, Obie Award winner for exploring American culture through theater, hosts The Founder's Festival, the theater's eighth annual Living Literature Festival of performances inspired by the lives and works of the individuals who helped to shape America. The Festival is a collection of eight new works by artists and companies from near and far taking their inspiration from the Founding Father's public and private lives. Each new work is presented four times over the festival. (Project descriptions and schedule follow.) Several evenings will be complemented by readings of salient documents. (more...)

Dick Science Fiction Film Festival which opened its first annual event this past December has partnered with the Cervantes Institute to host the much anticipated 'A Retrospective of Classic Spanish Horror Cinema' every Wednesday at 7pm from January 16 through March 6. The event kicks off with the screening of Alejandro Amenábar's chilling film Tesis (1996), a unique interpretation that presents secrets, crime and suspense in this Goya Award winner for Best Film. Nothing is as frightening yet absolutely brilliant than the featured works from filmmakers who have brought forth a classic cornerstone of cinema and have unleashed some of the most heart-wrenching moments in movie history.
