As part of its 2012-2013 producing Season, HERE will present You Are Dead. You Are Here. Together, playwright Christine Evans, director Joseph Megel and media designer Jared Mezzocchi have formed Transit Lounge, and You Are Dead. You Are Here. marks the company's debut production. This world premiere plays a limited engagement June 5-22, with Official Opening Night on Sunday, June 9 at 8:30PM at HERE (145 Sixth Avenue, just below Spring Street). (more...)


Palm Beach Dramaworks Presents MASTER HAROLD...and the boys

Based on Anthol Fugard's early life in South Africa, 'MASTER HAROLD'...and the boys tells the story of Willie and Sam, two black waiters who work in the St. George's Park Tea Room, and Hally, the tea room owner's son. Hally has known Willie and Sam all his life, and is very fond of them both; however, on one rainy day in 1950 their wide-ranging discussions illustrate all that unites us and the gulf that still divides us. Considered to be one of Fugard's greatest pieces, '"Master Harold"…and the boys" tells the universal story of human relationships that are put to the test by societal and personal forces. (more...)

Ballybeg today announced its debut production, EMPANADA FOR A DREAM, the story of a boy growing up on the Lower East Side, written and performed by Juan Francisco Villa*. Alex Levy will direct six performances to be held at the TBG Studio Theatre, 312 West 36th Street, 3rd Floor (between Eighth and Ninth Avenues) from April 21-29, 2012. *Member, Actors' Equity Association. James Earl Jones to Receive Philadelphia's 2012 Marian Anderson Award

Mayor Michael Nutter announced today that James Earl Jones-one of the country's most critically acclaimed stage and screen actors-will receive the 2012 Marian Anderson Award. Colman Domingo, Scott Shepherd Set for Signature Theatre's BLOOD KNOT

Signature Theatre has just announced casting for the new production of BLOOD KNOT, written and directed by Athol Fugard. The production will feature Tony Award-nominee Colman Domingo (The Scottsboro Boys) as Zachariah and Obie Award-winner Scott Shepherd (Gatz) as Morris. BLOOD KNOT, which is the first play in the Residency One: Athol Fugard Series, runs January 31 - March 11, 2012 with a February 16th opening night. BLOOD KNOT is the first of three Fugard shows Signature will present this season, and is the inaugural production in The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at the Company's new Frank Gehry-designed home Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between Dyer and 10th Avenues).
