Castillo Theatre Extends Run of CARMEN'S PLACE (A FANTASY) Until 6/16

The Castillo Theatre production of Carmen's Place (A Fantasy), called "an aria to behold" by critics in this opera-within-a musical running through June 16. Carmen's Place features an original pop score by Annie Roboff and Fred Newman, and in its show-within-the-show, some of the best-known and best-loved operatic numbers ever performed. Director Gabrielle L. Kurlander received the AUDELCO "Viv" Recognition Award for Excellence in Black Theatre as Best Director of a Musical Production in 2012 for Newman-Roboff's Sally and Tom (The American Way). First Lady of the Joffrey Ballet Dame Patricia Kennedy to Receive Ellis Island Medal of Honor

An Ambassador for World Peace, Patricia Kennedy designed the Peace One Earth Medallion in 2008 as a tribute to our soldiers from past and present conflicts. The distinctive design of the medallion expresses gratitude to the defenders of our freedoms, while acknowledging the hope for a world at peace. The medallion has been presented to many dignitaries, public figures, and members of our military in honor of their efforts to improve the lives of our veterans, and their commitment towards world peace. The first recipient was Wayne Newton* for his dedication to our troops and veterans through his extraordinary work with the USO. Other notable recipients include Gary Sinise* Dr. Buzz Aldrin, Hugh O'Brian* , Stefanie Powers, Kate Linder, Ed Begley Jr., Mike Vogel, Luc Robitaille, Rick Monday and Antonio Villaraigosa, Mayor of Los Angeles. Castillo Theatre to Present Dan Friedman's DEMONSTRATION 2013, 2/23-3/10

For its first production following the sold-out run of Katori Hall's Children of Killers, the Castillo Theatre will premiere Demonstration 2013, a multi-media performance piece written by artistic director Dan Friedman that will run for seven performances (February 23, 24 and March 1, 2, 3, 9 and 10) at the Castillo Theatre, 543 West 42nd Street, between 10th and 11th Avenues. Saturday Evening Post Celebrates the Release of F. Scott Fitzgerald's GATSBY GIRLS

He made the Roaring '20s come alive in numerous novels and created the Flapper Girl. As fans anticipate the release of the fourth film version of F. Scott Fitzgerald's masterpiece The Great Gatsby, there is renewed interest in the legendary writer's work. Fans will delight in knowing that The Saturday Evening Post is working with intellectual property studio SD Entertainment and romance transmedia and company BroadLit to publish F.Scott Fitzgerald's Gatsby Girls-a collection of his first eight short stories originally published in The Saturday Evening Post. Included are the original illustrations, cover art, reproductions of the actual pages of the Post, plus a fascinating introduction by the Post's historian. Netflix's HOUSE OF CARDS Set for June DVD Release

Don't want to fork out the basic Netflix package of $7.99 a month to check out HOUSE OF CARDS? Amazon is currently taking preorders for the series' DVD release - apparently set for June 11. Sony Entertainment, as Deadline reports, hasn't made the official announcement that the Kevin Spacey-led series would even get a DVD release, but according to Amazon, it obviously is. The online marketplace is now offering the first (and potentially only) season of CARDS for a special pre-order price of $44.99. (more...)
