LES ENFANTS DE PARIS Premieres at NYMF 10/3

War, Muslim Relations, Xenophobia and the struggles of disenfranchised youth are among the contemporary themes highlighted in Les Enfants de Paris, a world premiere musical premiering October 3rd as part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival. Donna Drake directs a cast of seven including, Adam Halpin (Glory Days), Nadine Malouf , Sevan Greene (Aftermath, Betrayed), Megan Reinking (Million Dollar Quartet, Hair, Boardwalk Empire), Jed Resnick (Avenue Q), Dan Kohler (Blue Man Group), and Blake Segal. Seven performances will be held at the TBG Theatre, 312 West 36th Street, 3rd Floor, NYC 10018 beginning October 3, 2011. (more...)

The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) has announced the first wave of invited musicals for its eighth annual festival, which join NYMF's previously announced Next Link Project productions on the 2011 Festival slate. A full breakdown of these seven new musicals follows. The rest of this season's programming, including additional full productions and special events, will be announced in the coming weeks. Irondale & Scenes Present The American Premier of 'An Arab in My Mirror,' 2/1

February 1 - 11 (performances run Wednesday through Saturday, 8pm) Irondale and Scenes presents the American premier of An Arab in My mirror written by Riad Cahmi and Philippe Vincent, directed by Philippe Vincent. An Arab in My Mirror has been featured at the Rawabet Space in Cairo, Egypt and at The Centre Choregraphique National in France. The piece will be performed by French and American actors. Irondale Ensemble member Scarlet Maressa Rivera will feature in this production, in keeping with Vincent's tradition of casting a local actress in each country where the play is performed. (more...)

The French Institute Alliance Francaise Presents Special Performances by Actors Bouquet and Huster, 2/24 and 3/3

The French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF), New York's premiere French cultural center, presents special performances by two of France's iconic actors, Carole Bouquet and Francis Huster. On February 24, two-time César winner Carole Bouquet will perform Lettres à Génica, a reading of letters by the French poet and playwright Antonin Artaud to his love, Romanian actress Génica Athanasiou. And on March 3, renowned actor and former member of La Comédie Française Francis Huster will present his award-winning adaptation of Nobel Laureate Albert Camus' La Peste.
