NYC Dance Week Set for June 20-29by BWW News Desk - May 24, 2013Now in its second year, NYC Dance Week, a yearly festival that advocates dance conditioning and wellness, will offer more than 100 FREE and DISCOUNTED dance, fitness and wellness classes over the course of 10 days, running June 20 – 29, 2013. To date, 37 of NYC's top studios have joined the festival, opening their doors to thousands of New Yorkers, encouraging them to explore and take class during the festival. Trustus' Summer Musical Will Be AIN'T MISBEHAVINby BWW News Desk - May 24, 2013This summer the Tony and Drama Desk award winning Ain't Misbehavin' returns to Trustus Theatre which premiered the show in Columbia during its second season. This toe-tapping revue of "Fats" Waller tunes will take theatre-goers on an entertaining journey through an evening in a 1930s Harlem night club where "night creatures" revel well into the early morning. This production, directed and choreographed by Trustus Company Member Terrance Henderson (Henderson Bros. Burlesque, Smokey Joe's Cafe), opens on the Thigpen Main Stage Friday, June 14th at 8:00pm. Jim Caruso and Billy Stritch to Return to Bemelmans at The Carlyle Hotel, 6/9by BWW News Desk - May 22, 2013Jim Caruso & Billy Stritch return to Bemelmans at The Carlyle Hotel with their evening of swinging standards on Sunday, June 9, then running every Sunday in June, from 9pm - 12 midnight. The two performers, who have performed extensively on their own, gained national exposure together as the host and musical director of the wildly popular open mic, Cast Party, which celebrates talent every Monday at Birdland in NYC, and tours nationally. During their November run at Bemelmans, the duo received critical acclaim, and made news when rock legend Bono joined them in an impromptu performance. Elegant Sabrina Wender was the menu addition last night. A singer-songwriter, dancer and actress, Sabrina Wender has a true passion for the arts. She has recorded a CD of pop music in Italy and also has an in-depth knowledge of American Jazz and Swing music of the 30s and 40s. As a teenager, Sabrina attended summer courses at the High School of Performing Arts in New York and has continued to further her musical studies both in Europe and the U.S. She has composed original ballad songs and soundtracks for documentaries about Italy which she produced and edited herself. As a dancer, Sabrina studied ballet at the Royal Academy of Dance and jazz at the California Club in Milan and currently attends The Steps School in New York. She has performed in music videos for Sting and Zucchero in collaboration with choreographers Momix and David Parsons. Sabrina has appeared on various television programs, including the Italian TV Network RAI where she was the female lead performer on the Saturdayevening variety program "Rido.' New dramas "Betrayal," "Killer Women," "Lucky 7," "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," "Once Upon a Time in Wonderland," "Resurrection," along with new comedies "Trophy Wife" and "Mixology," were picked up at ABC. Individual tickets are $17, which includes a dance lesson with a professional instructor followed by two sets of dancing under the stars to a live orchestra. This summer marks the 25th Anniversary season of Midsummer Night Swing, and to celebrate, tickets will be sold at a special '2 for $25' price on May 22 only.
