BWW Interviews: Just in Time for the Opening of The Wedding Singer, TRAVIS KENDRICK's Friday Five

Today, the spotlight falls upon Travis Kendrick, who continues his run as one of the go-to guys at Clarksville’s Roxy Regional Theatre in The Wedding Singer, opening tonight. Coming up for Travis is the role of Chachi in Happy Days, which will close the company’s 2011-2012 season. Not only an actor, Travis is also a certified yoga instructor, teaching classes around Clarksville and at the Roxy, and he’s choreographer of note, having choreographed Just Another High School Musical at Clarksville’s Northeast High School, Gallantry for Austin Peay State University Opera and he’ll be doing a number for The Roxy’s 101 Dalmatians the Musical later this year. Steven Baruch, Marc Routh, Richard Frankel and Tom Viertel today announced that they are producing PRINCE OF BROADWAY, the new musical celebrating legendary Broadway director and producer Harold “Hal” Prince. The production is directed by 21-time Tony Award winner Harold Prince, co-directed and choreographed by 5-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman, and features a book by Tony Award nominee David Thompson. WICKED in Dayton to Offer $25 Lottery Tickets

A day-of-performance lottery for a limited number of orchestra seats will be held for WICKED, which is returning to the Benjamin & Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center with performances from May 30 – June 24. Two and one-half hours prior to each performance, people who present themselves at the Ticket Center Stage Box Office, located in the Wintergarden of the Schuster Center, will have their names placed in a lottery drum; thirty minutes later, names will be drawn for a limited number of orchestra seats at $25 each, cash only. This lottery is available only in-person at the box office, with a limit of two tickets per person. Lottery participants must have a valid photo ID when submitting their entry form, if chosen, when purchasing tickets. (more...)

Tony nominee Norm Lewis, currently starring on Broadway as Porgy in The Gershwins’ PORGY AND BESS, will join the legendary walls of Sardi’s (234 West 44th Street) when his caricature is unveiled and hung on Wednesday, May 30th at 5:00pm during a special ceremony. His portrait will be join the hundreds of Broadway and Hollywood celebrities, including his co-star and fellow 2012 Tony nominee Audra McDonald, as well as co-star David Alan Grier also Tony-nominated for his performance in The Gershwins’ PORGY AND BESS. JERSEY BOY Michael Lomenda has called Chicago his touring-home for just over a month, but the closest Starbucks to The Bank of America Theater, where the first national touring cast of Jersey Boys is currently playing its 9 week run, has rooted itself firmly in his routine. He also calls a brownstone with fellow cast members in Wrigleyville his place of residence, has mastered the el (and gotten plenty of compliments while doing so), and taken in the city’s architectural feats on boat tours. Pittsburgh CLO Announces Full Casts of Local Productions - Starring Sally Struthers, Hunter Herdlicka, Liz Callaway and More!

Pittsburgh CLO has announced casting for its summer season, which includes six shows, featuring the national tours of Come Fly Away and The Addams Family, and CLO original productions of A Chorus Line, Annie, Fiddler on the Roof and Sunset Boulevard. Notably, A CHORUS LINE brings on board a slew of the show's national tour veterans, ANNIE stars Sally Struthers as Miss Hannigan, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF features Broadway's Lewis J. It was announced yesterday that stage and screen stars Brooke Shields and Richard Chamberlain will take on the iconic roles of Chris MacNeil and Father Merrin in playwright John Pielmeier’s world premiere of The Exorcist at the Geffen Playhouse. Helmed by acclaimed director John Doyle, who won a Tony Award for his striking reimagining of Sweeney Todd, this stage adaptation of William Peter Blatty’s famous 1971 novel transforms the unsettling battles of good versus evil, faith versus fact and ego versus ethos into a theatrical experience.
