CITIZEN TWAIN, Starring Val Kilmer, Announces Tour

Val Kilmer, famous for his portrayals of iconic characters such as Jim Morrison (The Doors), Doc Holliday (Tombstone) and Batman (Batman Forever), inhabits the spirit of yet another legendary figure: Mark Twain. Kilmer continues to develop Citizen Twain, a solo show about the man considered to be the world's greatest storyteller, taking it on the road to venues including the Valley Performing Arts Center in Northridge, CA on April 6; the Wyly Theatre in Dallas, TX, April 18-21; the Del E. Webb Center for the Performing Arts in Wickenburg, AZ, May 3-4; and the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City, June 28-July 28. Kevin Bacon Joins 'X-Men: First Class' Flick

Kevin Bacon will appear in the film 'X-Men: First Class,' Entertainment Weekly's Hollywood Insider reports. Bacon will play a villain who fights Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender). The film, which is a prequel to the previous 'X-Men' films, will begin filming in London this fall, the Hollywood Insider reports. It is set when characters Professor Charles Xavier and Erik Lenshaar/Magneto are in their late teens and early twenties. Alive Eve co-stars in addition to Nicholas Hoult, who reportedly plays the role of Beast orginally offered to BLOODY, BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON's Benjamin Walker. BroadwayWorld announced today that Walker will instead lead the cast of JACKSON to the Bernard Jacobs Theatre on Broadway beginning September 29, 2010. (more...)

Sean Penn Honored with PGA's Stanley Kramer Award

The Producers Guild of America (PGA), announced today that Sean Penn will be honored with the 2011 Stanley Kramer Award. The award will be presented to Penn at the 22nd Annual Producers Guild Awards ceremony on Saturday, January 22nd at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. The Stanley Kramer Award was established in 2002 to honor a motion picture, producer or other individual, whose achievement or contribution illuminates provocative social issues in an accessible and elevating fashion. Kramer, considered within the film industry to have served as 'Hollywood's Conscience' during his career as a film producer and director, created some of the most respected and successful works in the annals of American motion pictures. He was the master behind such classics as THE CAINE MUTINY, HIGH NOON, THE DEFIANT ONES, and GUESS WHO'S COMING TO DINNER. (more...)

Jane Alexander and David Gerroll Set for PBS's Marvel-Led AMERICAN MASTERS; Airs 12/28

Additional casting has been announced for the upcoming PBS special AMERICAN MASTERS starring Elizabeth Marvel as Louisa May Alcott. The cast will include Daniel Gerroll as Bronson Alcott and Jane Alexander as Ednah Cheney.
