McCarter Theatre Adds 6/9 Performance of INTO THE WOODS

Due to popular demand, McCarter Theatre has announced one additional performance of its smash-hit production of Into the Woods as reimagined by Fiasco Theater Company. Thanks to sold-out houses, great reviews, and nightly standing ovations, McCarter had previously announced it had extended the run through the matinee performance on Sunday, June 9. Le French Book Releases 13 Kindle e-Books of Short Stories

Le French Book has now released its full 99-cent e-book series of short stories from seven of France's best writers—Tatiana de Rosnay, Didier Van Cauwelaert, Yann Queffélec, Daniel Picouly, Christine Orban, Irène Frain, and Harold Cobert. Among them, this unlikely combination of French literary giantsincluding two Goncourt prize winners and one of France's most-read authorshave written upwards of 175 acclaimed works of literature. Here, they got together to play a collaborative writing game that resulted in seven-author stories. New European Paintings Galleries to Open Tomorrow at Met Museum

The Metropolitan Museum of Art's galleries for its world-renowned collection of European Old Master paintings from the 13th through the early 19th century will reopen on May 23 after an extensive renovation and reinstallation. This is the first major renovation of the galleries since 1951 and the first overall reinstallation of the collection since 1972. Increased in size by almost one-third, the space now accommodates the display of more than 700 paintings in 45 galleries, including one rotating special exhibition gallery. The galleries are organized both chronologically and geographically to provide an overview of painting in Italy, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and Great Britain. Many of the galleries have new floors and moldings and the suites of galleries unfold with a new logic and grandeur. Sculpture, medals, ceramics, and other decorative arts have been judiciously incorporated where their presence adds a layer of meaning to the display of paintings. Key works have been conserved or embellished with period frames. Important loans complement the permanent collection and celebrate the reinstallation. (more...)

High school seniors of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) got the graduation ceremony of their dreams on Saturday, May 18, when Disney Theatrical Group President Thomas Schumacher delivered their commencement address, and the diplomas were presented by 'Mary Poppins' herself: UNCSA alumna Rachel Wallace.
