Rebecca Lazier's COMING TOGETHER/ATTICA to Debut at The Invisible Dog, 6/13

On Thursday, June 13 (7 + 9 pm) at The Invisible Dog in Brooklyn, choreographer Rebecca Lazier and indie-classical ensemble Newspeak present the first US performances of Coming Together/Attica, a site-specific setting of Frederic Rzewski's iconic minimalist scores written following the 1971 prison riots in upstate New York. Lazier's dancers are Rashaun Mitchell and Silas Riener (formerly of Merce Cunningham Dance Company); Asli Bulbul, most recently from Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company; Jennifer Lafferty, who is featured in the work of Beth Gill and Yasuko Yokoshi; Pierre Guilbault; and Christopher Ralph. (more...)

Clarinetist Thomas Piercy to Bring TOKYO TO NEW YORK, 5/18 & 6/2

NYC and Tokyo-based clarinetist, Thomas Piercy performs two concerts of new music by contemporary Japanese composers based on their thoughts about NYC and works by non-Japanese composers influenced or inspired by Japan. The concerts will be visually backed by projections of photos of New York City by photographer Christina Boers and photos of Tokyo by Thomas Piercy. Many of the pieces have been composed for and premiered by Mr. Piercy. Several of the pieces include the combination of Western classical instruments with traditional Japanese instruments (shakuhachi and hichiriki). (more...)


DLC Offers Summer Camps in Baltimore City

Parents will be able to ensure their students with interest in various performing arts mediums are engaged this summer with camps from Drama Learning Center. The drama fun will run from July 8 - August 2, 2013. Tuition for DLC Baltimore summer camps is $295 per week per child. This production will be directed by Wayside Theatre Education Director, Molly MacLagan, and comes as part of Wayside Theatre's 'Education and the Arts' month.
