'Another beautiful exercise - though rather violent and exciting - is to pretend you're nymphs in a forest, being pursued by satyrs! Open your windows wide - scatter your chairs and tables - and race around the furniture in a frenzy! It's like a wonderful game, and stimulates the imagination at the same time!" This is just one of several exercises suggested by an enthusiastic instructor to her motley students in this deliciously funny scene that was created and first performed by the incredible Ruth Draper. Take tea at one of Cape May's finest inns or tea shops, indulge in homemade tasty treats, and listen to stories by famous American authors, like O. Henry and Louisa May Alcott, all for only $10.00. Audience members have the opportunity to ask questions of the talented cast and the artistic director, Gayle Stahlhuth, on Friday, June 22, immediately after seeing the award-winning Equity professional East Lynne Theater Company's production of 'Ruth Draper's Company of Characters.' Last season, Terry Teachout of 'The Wall Street Journal' gave ELTC kudos for producing a rarely seen play by Rachel Crothers, 'He and She,' and now the company tackles the seldom seen scenes of Ruth Draper. In fact, ELTC is only the second production company to be given permission to perform her work in the past fifty-six years. (more...)

East Lynne Theater Company Receives Grant from The Puffin Foundation

The Equity professional East Lynne Theater Company has announced that it has received a $1,500 grant from the prestigious Puffin Foundation to help fund two performances of '“Emma Goldman: My Life.' In 2008, ELTC received funding from this foundation to take its 'Paul Robeson Through His Words and Music' to Saint James Presbyterian Church in Harlem. (more...)
