BWW Exclusive: Hugh Panaro and Norm Lewis to Star in LES MISERABLES at the Muny July 15 - 21; Highly Anticipated Cast Announced!

The Muny announced principal casting for the fifth show of its fantastic 95th season, Les Miserables. Broadway veterans Hugh Panaro and Norm Lewis make their Muny debuts starring as Jean Valjean and Javert, respectively. Also starring is Michael McCormick as Thenardier. The production is directed by Richard Jay-Alexander, who served as the associate director and executive producer of the original Broadway, touring and Canadian companies of Les Miserables. (more...)

Kerry Washington, Norm Lewis and More Set for Lehman Center's AN ENCHANTED EVENING, 6/14

On Friday evening, June 14th, Lehman Center for the Performing Arts, Inc. will offer 'AN ENCHANTED EVENING,' a celebration of the Center and its contribution to the arts and cultural life of our community. This special fundraising event will be hosted by the celebrated actress, Kerry Washington, a Bronx native, known for her lead role as Olivia Pope in the current television drama Scandal and major roles in such films as Django Unchained, Last King of Scotlandand Ray. Ms. Washington will be joined by her Scandal co-star Norm Lewis, acclaimed for his recent Broadway success in Porgy and Bess. Chris Gillespie and musicians, who regularly perform at New York City's Carlyle Hotel just as the late Bobby Short once did, will round out the evening. (more...)

Actor/sword fighters Jacqueline Ann Holloway and Robert Westley will be joining NYCB dancers Jared Angle and Megan LeCrone and members of the Sebastians Chamber Orchestra for On Point: From Duel to Pas de Deux, to be presented by Salon/Sanctuary Concerts. An exploration of the shared origins of sword fighting and ballet, On Point will be presented on Monday June 3rd at The Liederkranz Club at 7:00PM. Stephen Schwartz to Appear at National Symphony's THE WIZARD AND I, Now thru 5/18

The National Symphony Orchestra Pops will present three performances of The Wizard and I: The Musical Journey of Stephen Schwartz May 16-18 in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall. Led by Principal Pops Conductor Steven Reineke, the performances feature performances by Jeremy Jordan, Norm Lewis, Julia Murney, Jennifer Laura Thompson, and The Washington Chorus. The performances celebrate Stephen Schwartz's 65th birthday as well as the 10th anniversary of the perennially 'popular' Wicked, and Mr. Schwartz will make a special appearance in each of the three programs, performing and sharing stories of the creation of Wicked. Colman Domingo and Forrest McClendon Join THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS in London

The Young Vic and Catherine Schreiber announced today that Colman Domingo and Forrest McClendon, stars of the original Broadway production, join the UK premiere of The Scottsboro Boys, directed by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman. Colman played Private Harold Green in Steven Spielberg's multi-award winning epic Lincoln, and reprises his Tony Award nominated role of Mr. Bones, alongside fellow nominee Forrest McClendon who plays Mr. Tambo. Also joining the Young Vic cast fresh from Broadway are Christian Dante-White (Charles Weems) and Clinton Roane (Roy Wright). The original production garnered an incredible 12 Tony Award nominations including Best Musical and Best Director. (more...)
