American Pop Anthology's Floyd and Birgitte Mutrux Premiere BOY FROM NEW YORK CITY Tonight, 9/20

American Pop Anthology, in association with Scott Prisand (Broadway's Rock of Ages), announced that they will present the new musical production BOY FROM NEW YORK CITY written and directed by Tony Award-nominee Floyd Mutrux (Broadway's Million Dollar Quartet and Baby It's You!) and choreographed by Birgitte Mutrux (Broadway's Baby It's You!). Performances begin tonight, September 20, 2012 for an eight-week run at The Coast Playhouse (8325 Santa Monica Boulevard) in West Hollywood. (more...)

'NYC 1993: Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star' Exhibition Goes On View 2/13 at the New Museum

"NYC 1993" looks at art made and exhibited in New York over the course of one year, providing a synchronic panorama in which established artists and emerging figures of the time are presented alongside the work of authors whose influence has since faded from the discussion. Centering on the year 1993, the exhibition is conceived as a time capsule, an experiment in collective memory that attempts to capture a specific moment at the intersection of art, pop culture, and politics. "NYC 1993: Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star" will be on view at the New Museum from February 13-May 26, 2013. (more...)

Taylor Momsen's The Pretty Reckless Announce Headline Tour, Kicking Off 3/9

New York Rock band The Pretty Reckless, fronted by vocalist Taylor Momsen, guitarist Ben Phillips, bassist Mark Damon, and drummer Jamie Perkins will hit the road for a six week headline tour commencing March 9th in Tucson, Arizona at Club Congress. Jason Robert Brown to Write New Piece Based on HAMLET for Guthrie Theatre

The Guthrie today announced that it has commissioned Tony Award and Drama Desk Award-winning Broadway songwriter and composer Jason Robert Brown to create an original music piece for its 50th-anniversary gala performance BEHOLD.
