Courtyard by Marriott Enters Saudi Arabia With Olaya Hotel Opening

On Saturday, May 18, 2013, Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE: MAR) celebrated the opening of the Courtyard Riyadh Diplomatic Quarter. Courtyard by Marriott, the world's 11th largest hotel brand, already has a strong footprint in the region with properties in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait. Broadway Producer Jed Bernstein to Take Over as Lincoln Center President, January 2014

Village of Ossining Presents Sculpture Exhibit Through October

On Sunday, May 5, a crowd of several hundred people gathered at the Village of Ossining Municipal Building to celebrate the opening of the Ossining in 3D bicentennial sculpture exhibit with a special meet-the-artist reception. The 25-piece outdoor exhibit, open to the public from May 5, 2013 through October 26, 2013, weaves through the Village's historic buildings and downtown waterfront area. (more...)

Redmoon Receives $250,000 Grant from ArtPlace America for Great Chicago Fire Festival

ArtPlace America announces today the award of a $250,000 grant to Redmoon, the large-scale spectacle and public art group, for the Great Chicago Fire Festival, a new festival that will culminate in a procession of illuminated floating fiberglass sculptures as well as a fire spectacle on the main branch of the Chicago River. Museum of the Moving Image to Build Jim Henson Gallery; Set for Winter 2014-15 Opening

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, Museum of the Moving Image, The Jim Henson Legacy, and other officials today announced that the family of Jim Henson has donated nearly 400 puppets, costumes, props, and other objects to the Museum, which will build a new gallery devoted to Henson's important and lasting creative achievements. The project, which has a fundraising goal of $5 million, is anchored by $2.75 million in funding from the City of New York for the construction of the new gallery, which is expected to open to the public in winter 2014-2015. Major League Soccer Announces New York Expansion Team: New York City Football Club

Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber announced today that a partnership of global sports powers, Manchester City Football Club and the New York Yankees, has acquired the League's 20th expansion club. GIRLS IN THE BAND Set for 2-Week Run at Quad Cinema

Following a successful weeklong run at Lincoln Center, the acclaimed documentary The Girls in the Band is coming to New York's Quad Cinema for a two-week run beginning May 24. Written, directed and produced by Judy Chaikin and produced and executive produced by Michael Greene, the film tells the stories of female jazz and big band instrumentalists from the 1920s to the present day and chronicles their inspired journeys and struggles for recognition. To celebrate the film's Lincoln Center premiere, Mayor Bloomberg declared May 10 "Women in Jazz Day." Tickets for the Quad Cinema screenings will be available here. Hollywood starlets including Taylor Ann Thompson ('Liz & Dick'), Peyton List ('Diary of a Wimpy Kid'), Bailee Madison ('Bridge to Terabithia'), Rowan Blanchard ('Spy Kids 4-D'), and Rachel Crow ('Big Time Rush'), walked the Pink Carpet at Beverly Hills retailer Un Deux Trois Wednesday night in support of the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings. Beverly and Colin Shorkend, owners of the popular girl's fashion clothing store, opened their doors for a Girls' Night shopping spree with a percentage of all proceeds going to 'One Fund Boston.'
