BWW Exclusive: Hugh Panaro and Norm Lewis to Star in LES MISERABLES at the Muny July 15 - 21; Highly Anticipated Cast Announced!

The Muny announced principal casting for the fifth show of its fantastic 95th season, Les Miserables. Broadway veterans Hugh Panaro and Norm Lewis make their Muny debuts starring as Jean Valjean and Javert, respectively. Also starring is Michael McCormick as Thenardier. The production is directed by Richard Jay-Alexander, who served as the associate director and executive producer of the original Broadway, touring and Canadian companies of Les Miserables. (more...)

James Corden Joins THE SAME DEEP WATER AS ME at Donmar Warehouse; Still in Talks for INTO THE WOODS Film?

According to the Daily Mail, James Corden has signed on to appear alongside Daniel Mays in Nick Payne's play The Same Deep Water As Me at the Donmar Warehouse, directed by John Crawley. Corden also recently met with Into the Woods film director Rob Marshall to discuss appearing in the movie adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's musical. If the dates for both projects do not conflict, Corden will take part in the pair. (more...)

Featuring music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II and a book by Hammerstein and Joshua Logan, the original 1949 Broadway production won ten Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and the 2008 Broadway revival won seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical Revival. Based on James Michener's Tales of the South Pacific, this all-new production of SOUTH PACIFIC will be directed by David H. Bell with choreography by Matt Raftery. (more...)

Cameron Mackintosh to Adapt OLIVER! for the Big Screen, Eyeing Broadway Revival with Samantha Barks?

According to the Daily Mail, Cameron Mackintosh wants to adapt Lionel Bart's OLIVER! for the big screen, following the success of Tom Hooper's LES MISERABLES film adaptation, which has officially surpassed the $400 million mark in worldwide sales, making it the second highest-grossing movie musical of all time. Rumors are that Mackintosh is eyeing Stephen Daldry as director for OLIVER! No solid timeline for production or casting has been revealed. (more...)
