The Shakespeare Theatre Company announces an enriched 2012-2013 schedule for Happenings at the Harman, a free programming series featuring cross-genre performances by local artists. Interested parties can bring a bag lunch on their midday break to see performances by musicians, dancers, puppeteers and genre-mixers lasting one hour or less Wednesdays at noon in The Forum in Sidney Harman Hall (610 F St. NW). Lantern Theater Company Presents THE LIAR, 11/1-12/2

Early popular demand has prompted Lantern Theater Company to announce an immediate extension of the upcoming production of David Ives' The Liar, an adaptation of the 1664 French comedy classic by Pierre Corneille, directed by Associate Artistic Director Kathryn MacMillan. This Philadelphia premiere by the playwright of the Lantern's smash hit New Jerusalem, The Interrogation of Baruch de Spinoza at Talmud Torah Congregation: Amsterdam, July 27, 1656 will now run from November 1 - December 2, 2012 (press opening Wednesday, November 7, 7 p.m.). Due to overwhelming demand, Lantern Theater Company announces a second extension of the Philadelphia premiere of The Liar by award-winning playwright David Ives. Playing to packed houses since its first performance on Nov. 1, Ives' "translaptation" of Pierre Corneille's comedy classic has drawn raves. The Liar will now run through Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012. Casting Announced for World Premiere of THE LION, THE WITCH & THE WARDROBE at Imagination Stage, 6/20-8/12

Imagination Stage, in a collaboration with The Washington Ballet, has announced casting for its world premiere summer production, THE LION, THE WITCH & THE WARDROBE. In this fusion of theater, dance, and puppetry, based on the novel by C.S. Lewis, the roles of the four children are played jointly by an actor and a dancer, and the courageous lion Aslan is portrayed by a life-size puppet operated by three actor/puppeteers, similar to the puppets used in the Broadway production WAR HORSE. The Lantern Announces 2012/13 Season to Include NEW JERUSALEM, HENRY V, HEROES

Now in the midst of a record-breaking year, Lantern Theater Company announces the productions scheduled for its 2012/13 season. The Lantern opens its 19th season with a remount of David Ives' New Jerusalem, The Interrogation of Baruch de Spinoza at Talmud Torah Congregation: Amsterdam, July 27, 1656, the best-selling play in the company's history and featuring the original cast and creative team from the original 2011 production. This limited return engagement is followed by the Philadelphia premiere of The Liar, also by Ives, a sophisticated comedy of lies and love adapted from the French play by Pierre Corneille. Mid-season, the Lantern completes Martin McDonagh's Leenane Trilogy (A Skull in Connemara, The Lonesome West) with the darkly comic The Beauty Queen of Leenane. Lantern Associate Artistic Director Kathryn MacMillan will direct both The Liar and The Beauty Queen of Leenane. In the spring, Lantern Artistic Director Charles McMahon directs Henry V, William Shakespeare's epic journey through royal courts and battlefields. The season concludes with Heroes, a playful, bawdy, and heartbreakingly funny comedy by Tom Stoppard, adapted from Gerald Sibleyras' Le Vent De Peupliers and directed by Lantern affiliated artist M.
