In Glenn Close's latest film she stars as Albert Nobbs- a woman passing as a man in order to work and survive in 19th century Ireland. Some twenty years after donning men's clothing, she finds herself lost in a prison of her own making. Close previously won an Obie Award for playing the Nobbs character Off-Broadway in Simone Benmussa's theatrical interpretation of Moore's short story, 'The Singular Life of Albert Nobbs. L.A. Theatre Works celebrates the 200th Anniversary of Pride and Prejudice with Christina Calvit's acclaimed stage adaptation of Jane Austen's beloved novel, returning from the first leg of a 25-venue national tour for five performances, Nov. 15-18, at UCLA's James Bridges Theater. According to the Daily Mail and TMZ, stage and screen star Tim Curry, 67, reportedly suffered a stroke in his Hollywood Hills home last night. Curry was taken to the hospital, but is now 'doing great,' according to agent Marcia Hurwitz. (more...)

Happy Birthday, Glenn Close! Close made her professional theater and Broadway debut in Love for Love. Other early stage credits include The Crucifer of Blood and The Singular Life of Albert Nobbs, for which she won an Obie Award. Close's first Tony Award nomination came for her role in the musical Barnum, and she subsequently won Tony Awards for her performances in The Real Thing and Death and the Maiden. For her portrayal of Norma Desmond in Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical Sunset Boulevard, Close won a Tony Award, a Drama Desk Award, a Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award and a Dramalogue Award.
