Telemundo Studios confirmed it signed an exclusive multi-project deal with well-known Mexican telenovela star Aaron Diaz. Diaz, who has stared innumerous internationally successful telenovelas and participated in the ABCseries 'Pan AM,' will join Telemundo's growing list of over 35 exclusive talents. Today in 1954, Damn Yankees opened at the 46th Street Theatre (now the Richard Rodgers Theatre), where it ran for 1019 performances. Damn Yankees is a musical comedy with a book by George Abbott and Douglass Wallop and music and lyrics by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross. The story is a modern retelling of the Faust legend set during the 1950s in Washington, D.C., during a time when the New York Yankees dominated Major League Baseball. (more...)

Dave Davies to Release I WILL BE ME Album, 6/4; Kicks Off Summer Tour in NY, 5/27

The man who forever changed the sound of rock 'n' roll when he invented distortion, Kink's legend Dave Davies, has recorded a brand new solo album of all original material! To be released on Cleopatra Records on June 4th, 'I Will Be Me' features guest appearances by The Jayhawks, Anti-Flag, award winning UK blues guitarist Oli Brown, Chris Spedding, US stoner rock band Dead Meadow, Aussie rockers The Art, Geri X and others! CABARET LIFE NYC: Running Out of Superlatives to Review Ann Hampton Callaway's Recent Sarah Vaughn Tribute Run

It's taken me two weeks to write this review of Ann Hampton Callaway's recent 8-shows-in-four-days run at Dizzy's Jazz Club at Lincoln Center, where she paid musical tribute to the late, great Sarah Vaughan, and I hope you buy the reason for such procrastination. Since late September last year, I've now seen four different Callaway cabaret shows at three different venues and reviewed two of them and, well, writing about how terrific Ann is on a cabaret/nightclub stage is getting a bit difficult as well as boring. I mean, I'm running out of words in my personal thesaurus to describe Callaway's consistent excellence, not to mention how she seems to provide a periodic master class in cabaret performance. But the more I thought about it, the more I felt I needed to prove I was up to this reviewing challenge, and a show as wonderful as From Sassy to Divine: A Celebration of Sarah Vaughan deserved more kudos on what Rachel Maddow calls, 'The Internet Machine.' Tommy Hilfiger Launches Surf Shack Summer Program with Art Production Fund

The Tommy Hilfiger Group, which is wholly owned by PVH Corp. [NYSE: PVH], celebrated the launch of its limited edition Surf Shack capsule collection and collaboration with Art Production Fund (APF) - an ongoing partner of the Tommy Hilfiger Corporate Foundation - at No. 8 in New York City. The event also announced the cross-continent Surf Shack bus tour starting in San Diego in June. The customized Surf Shack bus will travel to cities across North America, opening up as a mobile pop-up shop to sell the capsule collection, the artist-designed surf boards and other specialty product.
