Berkeley Playhouse continues its fifth season with the Tony Award-winning GUYS AND DOLLS. Jon Tracy (Berkeley Playhouse, Aurora Theatre Company, Shotgun Players, San Francisco Playhouse, Magic Theatre) helms this musical from the Golden Age of Broadway, featuring a cast of 22, and choreography by Chris Black (Berkeley Playhouse, Aurora Theatre Company). McAnuff To Direct 'Guys and Dolls' On Broadway In Spring '09

Today it was announced that GUYS AND DOLLS will open on Broadway for the first time in 17 years in the spring of 2009 at a Nederlander Theatre to be announced. With music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows, this production is the first joint Broadway project by director Des McAnuff and Sergio Trujillo since Jersey Boys. OpenStage Theatre presents The Book of Liz at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays from Feb. 21 to March 21, with a Thursday performance at 7:30 p.m. March 19 and two Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. on March 8 and March 15. Performances are in the Lincoln Center Mini Theater, 417 W. Magnolia St. in Fort Collins. A free performance for students and educators, funded by The Thornton Family Fund, will be presented on Tuesday, February 19, at 7:30 p.m. To make reservations for the student/educator performance, contact OpenStage Theatre at (970) 484-5237. BWW Interviews: Kres Mersky Talks About Her Einstein Creation

Actress/playwright Kres Mersky's solo plays include Isadora Duncan: A Unique Recital (currently touring the West Coast and Canada) and At The Codfish Ball. Her full-length, full-cast plays include Algerian Romance and Flag Day. She has also written numerous one acts. She has appeared extensively on stage, screen and television, and is a member of the prestigious stage company Theatre West. Mersky's newly revised solo play The Life and Times of A. Einstein will open at Theatre West on April 10. In our talk, she discusses the play and what drew her to Einstein among other theatrical interests. (more...)
