On Sunday, May 19, at The Globe Theatre, 100 Universal City Plaza, Universal City, CA, the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles (www.gmcla.org), whose mission is to change hearts and minds through the power of music, presented the 2013 Voice Awards. This year the organization honored American Idol, AT&T, activists Fred Arens and Jason Duguay, and writer/director Liesel Reinhart. ANNIE's Jane Lynch Appears on The View Tomorrow

Emmy Award-winning actress Jane Lynch, who stars in the hit FOX television show "Glee" as ruthless cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester and who made her Broadway debut last week as tyrannical orphanage matron Miss Hannigan in ANNIE, will be a guest on "The View" tomorrow, Tuesday, May 21. In the New York area, "The View" airs at 11:00 AM on WABC-TV Channel 7. Check local listings. Lynch will play Miss Hannigan through Sunday, July 14. (more...)

ALL-STAR CELEBRITY APPRENTICE: Donald Trump Crowns the Winner!

Host and executive producer, Donald J. Trump, named multi-platinum country star Trace Adkins as the first-ever All-Star Celebrity Apprentice in tonight's live season finale, concluding a dramatic and closely watched sixth season of "The Celebrity Apprentice" (Sunday, 9-11pm ET.) Adkins beat Las Vegas superstar Penn Jillette in the exciting finale held at New York University's Skirball Center for the Performing Arts in New York City, which was followed by a party at Cipriani 42nd Street sponsored by Walgreens. Today we are talking to a five-time Tony Award-winning director/choreographer celebrated for her stupendous work on CRAZY FOR YOU, THE PRODUCERS, CONTACT, THE FROGS, THOU SHALT NOT, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS and many more - the master musicals director Susan Stroman. In discussing a vast array of topics, Stroman and I touch upon many of her past projects as well as look ahead to her current and future endeavors - that is: the forthcoming Broadway bow of the new musical BIG FISH, starring Norbert Leo Butz, as well as the world premiere of Ahrens & Flaherty's LITTLE DANCER next year. Most importantly, Stroman shines a light on her enduring artistic partnership with Mel Brooks in bringing to life the screen-to-stage musical adaptations of both THE PRODUCERS and YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, with BLAZING SADDLES on the way - their rich collaboration also being highlighted in this week's AMERICAN MASTERS tribute to Mel Brooks on PBS. The Hair, the dress, the makeup, the shoes...amazing. I could not love this look Amanda Seyfried rocked more if I tried. In a sea of black and white this season a little red and black is a welcomed change. Its a classic combination but yet Preen made it look new with a dispersing pattern and a zipper down the front. I also love the contrast of the feminine shape with the edgy details. (more...)

How fantastic does Anna Faris look after just giving birth to new baby Jack in February? Seriously, what is the magic secret in Hollywood? I just don't get it. I understand it's part of their job to return to their post baby fabulousness, but lately these actresses and models seem to be pulling a rabbit out of a hat. It's been just three months since Faris gave birth and to me, she looks better than ever. (more...)

Chicago Opera Theater Announces 2014 Season

Chicago Opera Theater (COT) General Director Andreas Mitisek today announces programming for COT's 2014 season, including two operas and a double-bill of one-acts. Mitisek comments, "It's a season that is 100% 20th century and 150% COT. New, rare and with contemporary relevance for a curious audience that is hungry for new theatrical experiences." The season opens with the Chicago Premiere of Duke Ellington's Queenie Pie, February 15 - 23, 2014. In the spring, COT presents a double-bill of Carl Orff's Die Kluge and Viktor Ullmann's Der Kaiser von Atlantis, May 31 - June 8, 2014. The season wraps in the fall with the Chicago Premiere of Ernest Bloch's Macbeth, September 13 - 21, 2014. Mitisek also comments "We increased our subscriber family by 18.5% in 2013. COT is THE place for adventure and discovery. We invite our audience on a journey into the good and evil of ambition." (more...)
