Signature Theatre Extends WALTER CRONKITE IS DEAD Through 12/26

Virginia's Tony AwardŽ-winning Signature Theatre today announced that, due to popular demand, the world premiere comedy, starring Helen Hayes Award winners Sherri L. Edelen (Signature's Sweeney Todd and Les Miserables) and Nancy Robinette, written and directed by Helen Hayes Awardee Joe Calarco (Signature's Side Show and Assassins), will now run from October 26 through December 26, 2010. Aurora Theatre Company continues its 19th season with the Bay Area Premiere of acclaimed writer and actor David Cale's new solo play PALOMINO. The San Francisco Chronicle declared Cale 'a spellbinder,' noting that as 'fascinating as he is to watch, and exquisite as his verbal imagery can be, it is Cale's gifts as a storyteller that hold an audience rapt.' Written, directed, and starring David Cale, PALOMINO plays October 29 through December 5 at the Aurora Theatre in Berkeley. Hartford Stage Hosting Two Special Exhibits During DIVINE RIVALRY, 3/2-3/20

Hartford Stage will celebrate the artistic partnership among director Michael Wilson, set designer Jeff Cowie, and sound designer John Gromada in Working with Michael, a multi-media exhibit in 'room,' Hartford Stage's new function space. At the same time, the theatre will unveil Part II of Capturing the Moment, a season-long retrospective of the work of company photographer T. Charles Ericson, commemorating his 25 years with Hartford Stage. The Ericson installation will be in the theatre's upper lobby. The exhibits coincide with the run of Divine Rivalry, a world premiere play by noted political journalist Michael Kramer, which is the last MainStage production Wilson will be directing as Hartford Stage Artistic Director. Cowie designed the sets for the production, and Gromada the sound and original music. Official opening of both exhibits is Wednesday, March 2 at 6:00 p.m., directly before the 7:30 performance of Divine Rivalry. (more...)

The Public Theater Shifts THE TOTAL BENT Performances to Begin 2/24

The Public Theater announced new February dates today for THE TOTAL BENT by Stew and Heidi Rodewald and directed by Joanna Settle. The shift in dates for this Public Lab production is due to an unforeseen construction-related delay that prevented the show from getting into the theater on the scheduled start date. The Public Theater's building renovation has been underway since fall 2008 and is expected to be completed on time this summer. (more...)
