During Musicals in our Schools Week, Monday, March 18 through Monday, March 25, students, educators, industry leaders and community members advocate for the importance of quality arts programs in schools through grassroots efforts like organizing a Flash Mob, giving a free public performance from a Spring musical or sending a thank you note to an educator via letter, internet, video or kind deed. New Colony Associate Artistic Director Evan Linder Assumes a New Role

The New Colony board of directors today announces that Associate Artistic Director, Evan Linder, has been promoted to the role of Co-Artistic Director. Linder, a playwright, actor and founding member of The New Colony will now work directly alongside current Artistic Director, Andrew Hobgood in a shared role as the organization's chief artistic officer. "It just makes sense," says Hobgood. "The New Colony's mission is to attract new audiences by creating works that speak to them. But as we grow, that has required more work than one Artistic Director can take on. (more...)

HGTV to Premiere Renovation Series SPONTANEOUS CONSTRUCTION, 2/15

HGTV is bridging the gap between television and social media with its new series Spontaneous Construction. The half-hour series, hosted by Ricky Paull Goldin, harnesses the power of email, Facebook, Twitter, Craigslist and other social sites, to activate a 'task mob' of carpenters, skilled laborers and neighbors who travel from near and far to dance, laugh and surprise homeowners with a stunning renovation in just two days. The 'Flash Mob' performances to such hits as 'Footloose' and 'Bust A Move' are surreal, but the renovations are the real deal.
