Tough by Nature: Portraits of Cowgirls and Ranch Women of the American West opens Thursday, May 9, and runs through Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, at the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, 1720 Gendy Street in the Cultural District. The exhibition of 65 of Lynda Lanker's drawings, paintings, works on paper, and prints documents a vanishing way of life that affirms the role of women in the economy and ecology of the American West. The Paper Bag Players Return to the Jewish Museum Today

The Paper Bag Players returns to The Jewish Museum in Saddles and Sunshine, a new theater production for families today, March 10 at 2 pm. From cowboys and Cowgirls greeting the audience with a loud 'Howdy!' to a pie-eating contest and a day in the life of a bowling pin, Saddles and Sunshine will have children and adults alike laughing, clapping and singing along. The show features new, original music in styles ranging from country, salsa and ragtime to hip hop, classical, disco, and even barber shop quartet. A&E Network has lassoed its newest original real life series 'Rodeo Girls' (working title) from The Weinstein Company. Pre-production has commenced on the network's eight one-hour episode order. MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, The Mirage, Monte Carlo, ARIA, Luxor and Excalibur have partnered with Las Vegas Events and the Pro Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) for the 2012 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (WNFR) Thursday, Dec. 6 - Saturday, Dec. 15. Wrangler Tough Enough To Wear Pink (TETWP), the grassroots cowboy campaign fighting breast cancer since 2004, celebrated its eighth anniversary this year by surpassing the $14.5 million mark in funds raised since its inception. Hundreds of volunteers and regional rodeos across the U.S. and Canada made this achievement possible. The top 2012 fundraising rodeo events included Cattleman's Day in Gunnison, Colo, Missoula Stampede, Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo, Minot Y's Men's Rodeo, Red Bluff Round-Up and the bell ringer event, Cowboys for Cancer, Las Cruces, NM. What does an airheaded, "good" girl from Beaverton Jesuit High School do when she wants to be a Dallas Cowgirl professional football team cheerleader, and she gets accepted, but doesn't have the money to get from Oklahoma to the big city? She and her cheerleading friends, of course, turn to prostitution. That, at least is the premise of the classic porn flick DEBBIE DOES DALLAS, as well as the musical based on that flick.
