APAC's Taryn Sacramone Honored Today at 2013 Top Women in Business Awards

The Astoria Performing Arts Center (APAC) has announced that Executive Director Taryn Sacramone is being recognized for her hard work and dedication to the arts and the community. On Tuesday, May 7, 2013, Senator Michael Gianaris honored Sacramone at the New York State Senate 16th Annual Women of Distinction Ceremony. Today, May 9, 2013, 11th Annual Top Women in Business Awards event will honor Sacramone as an influential women in business whose major achievements and whose participation in many community activities throughout the years has helped the borough of Queens grow. In the midst of it all, Sacramone is producing the Olivier Award winning musical, Blood Brothers, through May 18 at the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church (more...)

Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles Welcomes Stephen Schwartz and Liz Callaway in June

The Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles (GMCLA) will wrap up the season with "Not Entirely Wicked," featuring the music of Broadway legend and Disney composer Stephen Schwartz and the voice of Emmy Award winner Liz Callaway, at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills, Saturday, June 22 at 8 PM and Sunday, June 23 at 3 PM. Actor's Fund to Memorialize Broadway Producer Roy Miller; Visitation Set for 5/5

Beloved Broadway producer Roy Miller passed away suddenly early Sunday morning, April 28, 2013 following a brief illness. Roy produced the multiple Tony Award nominated Broadway productions of The Drowsy Chaperone and this season's A Christmas Story: The Musical. His other Broadway producing credits include West Side Story, Ragtime, [title of show] and The Pee-Wee Herman Show among others. He recently served as Producing Artistic Director of Surflight Theatre from 2010 to 2012 and also served as Associate Producer of Paper Mill Playhouse from 1991 to 2004. (more...)

The Astoria Performing Arts Center (APAC) has announced Willy Russell's (Educating Rita and Shirley Valentine) BLOOD BROTHERS, musical staging by Christine O'Grady, musical direction by Julianne B. SIGNS OF LIFE Gets Staged Reading at American University, 6/1-2

Snap-Two Productions, Inc. and LimanAde Productions in association with Issembert Productions, Inc. will present a staged reading of the new drama with music, Signs of Life, at American University in the Katzen Arts Center Studio Theatre on June 1 at 7:00 P.M. and June 2 at 1:00 P.M. The performances will feature American University alumni, current students and a student from BRAVO@KAT, the children's wing of Kensington Arts Theatre. Stephen Schwartz to Appear at National Symphony's THE WIZARD AND I, Now thru 5/18

The National Symphony Orchestra Pops will present three performances of The Wizard and I: The Musical Journey of Stephen Schwartz May 16-18 in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall. Led by Principal Pops Conductor Steven Reineke, the performances feature performances by Jeremy Jordan, Norm Lewis, Julia Murney, Jennifer Laura Thompson, and The Washington Chorus. The performances celebrate Stephen Schwartz's 65th birthday as well as the 10th anniversary of the perennially 'popular' Wicked, and Mr. Schwartz will make a special appearance in each of the three programs, performing and sharing stories of the creation of Wicked.
