La Jolla Playhouse Extends SIDEWAYS Through 8/25

Due to popular demand, La Jolla Playhouse announces a week-long extension for the run of its upcoming production of Sideways, by Rex Pickett, directed by Playhouse Director Emeritus Des McAnuff (Jersey Boys, Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots). BAREFOOT BOY WITH CHEEK Recording with Jenn Colella, Max von Essen & Robert Lenzi Set for Free Digital Download

UnsungMusicalsCo. (UMC), in a collaboration with the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, will record three songs from the little-known 1947 musical comedy Barefoot Boy With Cheek featuring performances by Jenn Colella (Chaplin, Closer Than Ever), Max von Essen(Evita, Death Takes a Holiday) and Robert Lenzi (South Pacific, Hello Again). UMC's recordings will be released for free digital download on the New York Public Library's website as part of its Musical of the Month blog series, which recently featured UMC's reconstruction of the Barefoot Boy libretto. The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today the lineup for this year's edition of Latinbeat, July 12-21. Opening Night launches with LA PAZ by prolific Argentinian filmmaker, Santiago Loza, who has showcased his work at the festival since 2000, and is also an influential playwright in the indie theater scene of Buenos Aires. This year's lineup also includes the previously announced retrospective of filmmaker, Matias Piñeiro, who will screen his films THE STOLEN MAN and THEY ALL LIE during the festival while simultaneously theatrically opening VIOLA and ROSALINDA at the Film Society of Lincoln Center on July 12th. On July 25th at The Cutting Room in New York City, a poignant glimpse into the life of Glen Campbell will be shared when James Keach, producer of the Oscar winning 'Walk the Line,' presents a clip from his forthcoming documentary on superstar Campbell, who recently announced his battle with Alzheimer's. Campbell's children, Ashley and Shannon Campbell, will open the evening with their band Victoria Ghost, and headliners The Young Presidents -featuring Mitch Kaneff and Jake Hertzog - will perform songs from their latest album. A CHRISTMAS STORY to Launch Limited Runs in Boston & Hartford This November

The producers of A Christmas Story, The Musical, have announced that the three-time Tony nominated production will return for the holiday season with engagements at the The Bushnell in Hartford, CT (November 12-17) and The Wang Theatre in Boston, MA (November 20 - December 8) before returning to New Yorkat The Theater at Madison Square Garden (December 11 – 29). Tickets are now on sale for the New York engagement. Single tickets for the general public go on sale for the Boston engagement June 16, and for the Hartford engagement on September 9. (more...)
