Breaking: NEWSIES Run on Broadway Is Now Open Ended!by BWW News Desk - May 16, 2012Surprising no one following the show's grosses, it's just been announced NEWSIES, which opened on Broadway back in March for a limited run through August 19th will now officially be an open-ended run with tickets on sale through November 18, 2012 and group sales to January of 2013. Often overlooked today, her story and legacy will be told by Tony Award nominee Hope Clarke (Caroline or Change, Jelly's Last Jam) in the world premiere of Steve Willis' Diana Sands: A Certain Toughness of Spirit. Daryl Roth to Receive Hostetter-Habib Family and Harold Clurman Spirit Awards, 5/8 & 5/20by BWW News Desk - Apr 23, 2012Theater producer Daryl Roth, who produced last season’s Tony Award-winning revival of The Normal Heart and has presented an unprecedented seven Pulitzer Prize-winning plays on the stage, is set to receive two prestigious honors next month. The Family Equality Council will present Roth with the Hostetter-Habib Family Award for her continued support of the LGBT community. The presentation will take place at the organizations Night at the Pier event on May 8. Later in the month, at its Stella by Starlight Gala on May 20, the Stella Adler Studio of Acting will present Roth with The Harold Clurman Spirit Award “for courageous contribution to the culture of the city of New York and beyond.” Her fellow honorees at the Stella by Starlight Gala include Harry Belafonte, James Earl Jones, Ed Schultz, and Masa Tanaka.
