LET IT BE Extends To January 2014 At Savoy Theatre

LET IT BE, the spectacular West End show celebrating the music of The Beatles has announced an extension to its current run at the Savoy Theatre in London following an announcement last week that a production will also open on Broadway in July this year. The show is now booking until 18 January 2014. The show has established itself as one of the West End's most popular shows since it premiered in September 2012. (more...)


Man Survives Fall Onto Broadway's Lyceum Theatre Marquee

According to the NY Post, a man survived with minor injuries after falling out of a window above Broadway's Lyceum Theater this afternoon, May 19. He landed on the marquee, as reported by fire officials, just 2 or 3 feet down from the window. (more...)


ATG Expected to Buy Broadway's Foxwoods Theater, Home of SPIDER-MAN, for $70 Million

According to The Telegraph, Broadway's Foxwoods Theater could soon be purchased by the UK-based Ambassador Theater Group, which owns around 40 theaters across the pond. Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark currently runs at the Foxwoods. (more...)

STAGE TUBE: On This Day 5/19 - SHOW BOAT

Today in 1946, the second Broadway revival of Showboat opened at the Ziegfeld Theatre, and ran for 418 performances. Show Boat is a musical in two acts with music by Jerome Kern and book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. It was originally produced in New York in 1927 and in London in 1928, and was based on the 1926 novel of the same name by Edna Ferber. The plot chronicles the lives of those living and working on the Cotton Blossom, a Mississippi River show boat, from 1880 to 1927. The show's dominant themes include racial prejudice and tragic, enduring love. (more...)

What possibly could be said or written about a production of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF Jr. that hasn't already been announced countless times? Probably nothing except the one word 'tradition' and that's the lasting essence of this theatrical phenomenon on two levels for this BRAVO@KAT student production. The show retells the ethnic traditions of a specific family but it has universal appeal. The 'tradition' here is a dual one because it includes the re-enactment of the cherished Broadway tradition of teaching new generations of American children the theatrical classics of our culture. BWW Reviews: LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS at The Vex Buds But Doesn't Bloom

Early on in Little Shop of Horrors, the crowd favorite musical now playing at the Sheldon Vexler Theatre, forlorn florist Seymour Krelborn begs his strange and interesting but dying new plant, dubbed the Audrey II, to bloom. The same pleas could be asked of the show. While bolstered by some talented and gifted performers, this production sadly remains a seedling that doesn't completely sprout. (more...)


SIGNS OF LIFE Gets Staged Reading at American University, 6/1-2

Snap-Two Productions, Inc. and LimanAde Productions in association with Issembert Productions, Inc. will present a staged reading of the new drama with music, Signs of Life, at American University in the Katzen Arts Center Studio Theatre on June 1 at 7:00 P.M. and June 2 at 1:00 P.M. The performances will feature American University alumni, current students and a student from BRAVO@KAT, the children's wing of Kensington Arts Theatre.
