Review: SOPHIE'S SURPRISE 29TH, Underbelly Boulevard
by Franco Milazzo - Apr 18, 2024

As any fan of this art form will tell you, the first rule of cabaret shows is: never sit in the front row. The second rule is: never tell cabaret virgins the first rule.

Review: THE CHER SHOW at THEATRE UNDER THE STARS
by Brett Cullum - Apr 18, 2024

I am unsure if I know of any other music diva who needs three different actresses to play her, but Cher seems to have required that. We have not one, not two, but three Chers in this show. And do they trot on, do their part of life, and leave? Heck no! They all talk to each other, advise each other, and sing together all night long. It’s like the three musketCHERs or something!

Review: THE TAMING OF THE SHREW at CLASSICAL THEATRE COMPANY
by Brett Cullum - Apr 15, 2024

I don’t think you are going to find a funnier TAMING OF THE SHREW easily. Director Dana Bowman has lucked out to get the cast and crew that could pull this off, and she had extreme insight into how to handle the problems the show represents to women today. You will laugh, and you will find it a delight. Sitting through TAMING OF THE SHREW was never a chore, and I was enchanted from start to finish.

Review: SCRAMBLING THE GOOSE at Washington Ensemble Theatre
by Jay Irwin - Apr 12, 2024

When you go to the theater, Dear Readers, you sit in silence and enjoy the show. You may laugh, or cry, or gasp, but for the most part, you keep yourself to yourself. (At least I hope you do.) But every now and again, shows may ask something of you. Maybe a call back like in “Rocky Horror” or voting for who the murderer is in “Drood”. Well, Washington Ensemble Theatre has created a little piece, or rather several little pieces, in the style of the Neofuturists, with “Scrambling the Goose”, opening at 12th Ave Arts on April 26th. I was able to catch a rehearsal, and even with some elements missing, I can tell this show is going to be a blast.
