Universal Music Enterprises and Castle Face Records have joined forces for the release of the 45th Anniversary of The Velvet Underground & Nico with a tribute album featuring indie artists Ty Segall ('Femme Fatale'), Thee Oh Sees ('European Son'), White Fence ('Run Run Run), The Fresh and Onlys ('All Tomorrow's Parties') among others. Brian Eno famously said 'the album may not have sold many copies, but everyone who bought it formed a band.' This partnership between UMe and Castle Face Records is a true testament of the influence of The Velvet Underground. (more...)

New Adolf Eichmann Drama Led by Michael Cristofer Headed for Broadway Following Boston Run?

The New York Times reports today that Michael Cristofer will lead the Huntington Theatre Company's new production of Captors as Adolf Eichmann. The play, according to the Times, is already slated for a Broadway transfer next season. (more...)

Baltimore Playwrights Festival Announces Public Reading Marathon, 2/26 at The Strand

The Baltimore Playwrights Festival (www.baltplayfest.com) announces the sixth public reading 'Marathon' of their 30th Season, to take place on Saturday, February 26th at The Strand Theater, 1823 N. Charles Street, Baltimore, Maryland, 21201. Beginning at 11:00 a.m. five one-acts plays will be read, including Top of the Hour by Kitty Felde, The Rapier and the Rose, and The Unfinished Story, both by Steve Prevosto, The Chick Files by Sharon Goldner, and Protest by Adam Meyer. Each reading will be followed by a discussion of the script with the playwright, director and actors. The event is free, and the general public is encouraged to attend. (more...)

Today, we're featuring Patti and Robert LuPone circa 1981. Patti LuPone created the role of Lucia in the new musical Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (music and lyrics by David Yazbek), for which she was nominated for Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards. She is the winner of the Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best Actress in a Musical and the Drama League Award for Outstanding Performance of the Season for her performance as Rose in the most recent Broadway production of Gypsy. Syfy Renews HAUNTED HIGHWAY for Second Season

Syfy has ordered a second season of its hit paranormal reality series, Haunted Highway. The new six episode season will premiere, on a new night, Wednesday, July 24 at 10PM (ET/PT). The hour-long series follows two teams, Jack Osbourne & Dana Workman, and Jael de Pardo & Devin Marble, as they conduct their own first-person investigations into some of the most frightening claims of paranormal activity in some of America's most remote regions.
