Hotels in Kona, Hawaii Gear Up for IRONMAN 70.3 on June 1, 2013

This summer kicks off two of the biggest events to take over Kona: the IRONMAN 70.3 Hawaii and the IRONMAN World Championship. On June 1, 2013, athletes will compete in the former for one of only 28 qualifying spots in the latter, and guests of the Courtyard King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel will have a front-row seat to all the action. 3rd Annual 24 Hour Berkshire/Capital Region Theatre Project Set for 5/18

For the third year in a row, WAM Theatre and The Mop & Bucket Improv Company (MopCo) will bring together over 50 professional theatre artists from the Berkshire and Capital Region areas to produce the 24hr Theatre Project. Together, these artists will mount five short works; all written, rehearsed, and performed in 24 hours. The 3rd Annual 24hr Berkshires/Capital Region Theatre is hosted by Proctors Theatre in Schenectady, NY, with a public performance taking place on Saturday, May 18 at 8pm. (more...)

Today we are talking to a five-time Tony Award-winning director/choreographer celebrated for her stupendous work on CRAZY FOR YOU, THE PRODUCERS, CONTACT, THE FROGS, THOU SHALT NOT, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS and many more - the master musicals director Susan Stroman. In discussing a vast array of topics, Stroman and I touch upon many of her past projects as well as look ahead to her current and future endeavors - that is: the forthcoming Broadway bow of the new musical BIG FISH, starring Norbert Leo Butz, as well as the world premiere of Ahrens & Flaherty's LITTLE DANCER next year. Most importantly, Stroman shines a light on her enduring artistic partnership with Mel Brooks in bringing to life the screen-to-stage musical adaptations of both THE PRODUCERS and YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, with BLAZING SADDLES on the way - their rich collaboration also being highlighted in this week's AMERICAN MASTERS tribute to Mel Brooks on PBS. Additionally, Stroman reflects on some of her lesser-known entities and casts a light on some of her foremost influences as well as candidly discusses her specialty work for a bevy of major stars - such as at SONDHEIM: A CELEBRATION AT CARNEGIE HALL in 1992 - and the finer points of working with Stephen Sondheim and Nathan Lane on Sondheim's most recent original Broadway musical, THE FROGS. Nick Rigg & Leftfield Entertainment Partner to Launch LOUD TV

Unscripted television producer and executive Nick Rigg, and Leftfield Entertainment, the production group behind History's Pawn Stars franchise and Bravo's The Real Housewives of New Jersey, and headed by CEO/producer Brent Montgomery, have formed a new joint venture: Loud TV. The full-service entertainment and production company will create a broad range of unscripted television and digital content, including branded entertainment.
