The Shelter - a ensemble of theatrical artists - will conclude their fourth season with the world-premiere of LILY & KOSMO LIVE, a new play the blends the exciting adventure of "Buck Rogers" and 1950s radio space operas with the youthful mischief of "Our Gang" and The Little Rascals talkies, written and directed by Jonathan Ashley with preview performances beginning June 20th, 2013 prior to an official press opening of June 23rd at the Connelly Theater (220 East 4th Street) in Manhattan. Thommie Retter and Stage Door Designs have joined forces to produce and present THIS WAY TO BROADWAY, A Concert Featuring Today's Talented Youth. Their first event will be held at the 777 Theatre in New York City on Monday the 13th of May at 7pm. This concert will feature vocal and dance performances by talented kids representing 10 different states. This group of 'ready for prime-time' professional and aspiring kids include many with professional credits: Broadway, Off-Broadway, Television, National Tours and more! We are thrilled to announce that TONY Award Winning actor Trent Kowalik from Broadway's Billy Elliot the Musical will be on hand to deliver a spectacular performance. (more...)

Hunter College Art Galleries to Present OPEN WORK IN LATIN AMERICA, NEW YORK & BEYOND, 2/7-5/5

Hunter College Art Galleries presents Open Work in Latin America, New York & Beyond: Conceptualism Reconsidered, 1967-1978, curated by Harper Montgomery, the Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Professor in Latin American Art. The opening reception will take place on Thursday, February 7th, 6-8pm in The Bertha and Karl Leubsdorf Art Gallery at Hunter College (West Building at the southwest corner of 68th Street and Lexington Avenue, NYC). Carly Rae Jepsen and More Support Candie's Foundation Initiative to Prevent Teen Pregnancy

The Candie's Foundation created a national dialogue on May 1st, the National Day to prevent teen pregnancy. The Foundation's initiatives garnered over 200 million impressions with its message of teen pregnancy prevention. The Candie's Foundation partnered with Thunderclap, a social media platform that programs a tweet and Facebook post to be sent out automatically at a set time. The message, 2,000 teenage girls will get pregnant today. I stand with @CandiesOrg #NoTeenPreg was sent out by social media powerhouses: Chris Brown, Carly Rae Jepsen, Lucy Hale, Bella Thorne, Jenny McCarthy, Audrina Patridge, and others. This was the 2nd largest Thunderclap of all time surpassing Comic Relief #RND and The White House #NowIsTheTime to act Thunderclaps. (more...)

The Adobe Theater to Stage Neil Simon's LOST IN YONKERS, Beg. 6/28

Yonkers, NY is city just north of the Bronx, where playwright Neil Simon was born on the 4th of July, 85 years ago. He has chronicled family life in the Great Depression and after in a series of prize-winning plays, musicals and films. His frequent theme shows 'likeable people in difficult situations.' His 1991 Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy, 'Lost In Yonkers,' will be presented at the ADOBE Theater for four weekends, starting June 28. Director Heather Lovick-Tolley chose to direct this somewhat painful comedy in celebration of Simon's longevity as a celebrated American playwright. (more...)

BELLA'S DREAM Begins 6/16 in NYC

Bella'S DREAM, a new play with dance written and choreographed by Dana Boll, follows the true life story of Bella and Raymond Boll (the playwright's paternal grandparents), who heeding the advice of a dream, left their home in Poland, weeks before the Nazis invasion. The Southern Theater Opens TRICK BOXING, 6/1

The Southern Theater today announced the presentation of Trick Boxing by Sossy Mechanics, a fast-paced physical comedy full of rapid-fire dialogue, "Fred-and-Ginger style dancing" and puppetry. Trick Boxing premiered to great success at the 2002 Minnesota Fringe Festival, has since played to audiences around the U.S., Canada and the U.K., and will appear at The Southern Theater from June 1st - 8th.
