On June 22, music lovers can hear another free concert by the 100-year-old Houston Symphony at Miller Outdoor Theatre as part of their ExxonMobil Summer Symphony Nights series at Miller Outdoor Theatre. The concert will feature popular works by Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Rimsky-Korsakov. Led by associate conductor Robert Franz, the concert will also feature cello soloist Christine Lamprea, a native of San Antonio and winner of the 2013 Sphinx Competition, who will make her debut with the Houston Symphony performing Tchaikovsky's technically challenging Variations on a Rococo Theme for Cello and Orchestra. Mary Zimmerman returns to the Huntington Theatre Company for The Jungle Book, a world premiere stage adaptation produced in association with Chicago's Goodman Theatre. The production premieres in Chicago on June 21 and plays at the Huntington September 7 - October 6, 2013. Based on Nobel Laureate Rudyard Kipling's 1893 collection of stories set in the Indian jungle and Walt Disney's 1967 animated film, Zimmerman's adaptation of The Jungle Book is a music- and movement-filled adventure of young Mowgli's coming-of-age in the animal kingdom. Robin Hood, a new adaptation for Christmas 2013 of the classic Robin Hood story by Charles Way, directed by Amy Leach; and the first regional production of Anya Reiss's contemporary translation of Anton Chekhov's The Seagull for spring 2014 are the next four productions from Manchester's Library Theatre Company, the company's final programme under the Library Theatre Company banner prior to the Library's move with Cornerhouse to HOME.
