Ethan Coen's trio of one-acts tackle important questions. In Waiting, someone waits somewhere for quite some time. In Four Benches, a voyage to self-discovery takes a British intelligence agent to steam baths in New York and Texas, and to park benches in the U.S. and U.K. In Debate, cosmic questions are taken up. Not much is learned.

Trustus Theatre is kicking off their Last Call Series with a fan-favorite in Columbia: Plan 9 from Outer Space. The show was adapted from Ed Wood's B-movie science-fiction-horror flick by local actor Shane Silman, who still serves as both director and cast member in this production. Its last incarnation at Tapp's was sold-out, and it is making its way to the Thigpen Main Stage at Trustus Theatre on Friday September 14th, 2012. (more...)

Marie Antoinette will be performed at Yale Repertory Theatre (1120 Chapel Street) October 26 through November 17. Opening Night is Thursday, November 1. The cast includes Fred Arsenault, Hannah Cabell, David Greenspan, Marin Ireland, Vin Knight, Jo Lampert, Polly Lee, Steven Rattazzi, Jake Silbermann, Teale Sperling, Brian Wiles, and Ashton Woerz. Expanded to thirty categories this year, the BCAs (or "Broadies") honor Chicago's theater productions and artists in both Equity and Non-Equity categories, including plays, musicals, revues, Theater for Young Audiences, touring shows and special theatrical events. Productions which opened between November 1, 2011 and October 31, 2012 were eligible for nomination. Columbia's Trustus Theatre Presents ALMOST AN EVENING, 6/20-30

This month, Trustus Theatre is bringing Almost An Evening to the Trustus Black Box. This hilarious show is a collection of three one-acts by famed Oscar-winning screenwriter Ethan Coen of The Coen Brothers (No Country for Old Men, O Brother Where Art Thou, and The Big Lebowski). The Trustus production is a unique theatrical event for Columbia theatre-goers where three directors will work with one cast to tell these three distinctive stories. Almost An Evening is part of Trustus' Late Night Series and runs in tandem with Avenue Q. The show opens on Wednesday, June 20th at 7:30pm. The production continues through June 30th with Wednesday shows at 7:30pm, and Fridays and Saturdays at 11:15pm. (more...)
