It's Official, REBECCA is Back On! To Play Broadway's Broadhurst Theatre, Opening November 2012 - Mason, McGillin, Barbour & More

It's back on! REBECCA, the new musical based on the classic novel by Daphne du Maurier novel (and later turned into an Oscar-winning film by Alfred Hitchcock) which was postponed earlier this year, will now open on Broadway Sunday, November 18 at The Broadhurst Theatre (235 West 44th Street). Previews will begin Tuesday, October 30. REBECCA will be produced by Ben Sprecher and Louise Forlenza; with The Shubert Organization, DC Tours Pty Ltd, Manderley Partners, Julian Spencer, Paul Abrams, Tony Fusco, Nanda Anand, Peter Bogyo, Peter Bezemes and Dennis Grimaldi, in association with David Mirvish, Stage Entertainment and Larry Feinman and by special arrangement with Vereinigte Bühnen Wien GmbH. Off-Broadway's acclaimed Irish Repertory Theatre presents its 2012 Annual Benefit Gala, a concert performance on Broadway of Lionel Bart's OLIVER! – a glorious, Tony Award-winning musical adaptation of the classic Dickens tale of 1850's London in the time of the Industrial Revolution – on Monday, June 11 at The Shubert Theatre (225 West 44th Street) in Manhattan. Charlotte Moore, who directed last year's concert staging of CAMELOT on Broadway and the IrishRepertory's recent revival of Brian Friel's DANCING AT LUGHNASA, will direct. (more...)

Broadway's ANNIE Names Orphans!

After more than 5,000 auditions in a coast-to-coast search, ANNIE has announced casting for the orphans for the new production of the classic Tony Award-winning Broadway musical. ANNIE will open on Broadway in Fall 2012 at a Nederlander theatre to be announced. The production will be directed by three-time Tony Award winner James Lapine and choreographed by Tony Award winner Andy Blankenbuehler. (more...)

Chicago's Grant Park Music Festival Kicks Off in July

Summer in Chicago continues this July with the Grant Park Music Festival, led by Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Carlos Kalmar and the Grammy Award-nominated Grant Park Orchestra, along with Chorus Director Christopher Bell and the Grant Park Chorus in the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Chicago’s Millennium Park. The Festival will bring performances by outstanding guest conductors and guest artists from around the world, in a month of exciting programming that includes a world premiere commission, a live concert screening of Frozen Planet, the latest hit series from BBC/Discovery Channel, a tribute concert to Broadway and Hollywood legend, Frank Loesser and other Festival favorites. Marin Mazzie Returns to CARRIE

BroadwayWorld has confirmed that Marin Mazzie will be taking the weekend off from CARRIE duty to fulfill previously scheduled concert engagement in California. Stepping in for Mazzie in the role of Margaret White for performances on March 16 - March 18 will be Anne Tolpegin, best known for her roles in Les Miserables and A Tale of Two Cities. In celebration of the bicentenary of Charles Dickens, PNPF Associates Ltd. in association with Ovation present the new musical A Tale of Two Cities at The Charing Cross Theatre. Directed by Paul Nicholas, A Tale of Two Cities has music by multi platinum award-winner David Pomeranz, book by Emmy winner Steven David Horwick and David Soames, lyrics by Steven David Horwich, musical arrangements by John Cameron, and choreography/assistant direction by Racky Plews.
