The Lyric Opera Broadcasts Will Be Rebroadcast by The WFMT Radio Network

Beginning on Saturday, May 18, and continuing every Saturday through July 13, The Lyric Opera Broadcasts of the 2012/13 Lyric Opera of Chicago season will be rebroadcast internationally by The WFMT Radio Network and heard locally on 98.7WFMT. Lyric's 2012-13 season comprises nine operas plus the musical Oklahoma! Two of the shorter operas, Hansel and Gretel and Elektra, will be broadcast on a single date as a double bill. (more...)

The Public Theater announced today that Kevin Kline will reprise his Tony Award-winning role of The Pirate King with Glenn Close as Ruth, Eric Idle as the Sergeant, and Martin Short as Major-General Stanley in the one-night-only concert performance of THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE for The Public's annual gala. Co-chaired by Sir Howard Stringer, Arielle Tepper Madover, and Renee Beaumont, this unforgettable summer evening will also honor the late Nora Ephron who was a long-time board member and consummate lover of The Public's Shakespeare in the Park. Tennessee Williams One-Acts to Wrap UW Drama's 2012-13 Season, 5/29-6/9

UW School of Drama presents five one-act plays by Tennessee Williams, directed by MFA directing candidates Leah Adcock-Starr and Tina Polzin and featuring performers from the School of Drama's graduate and undergraduate programs. Previews begin Wednesday, May 29 at the Glenn Hughes Penthouse Theatre. Opening Night is Friday May 31 and the production runs through Sunday, June 9. (more...)

Alec Baldwin Talks ORPHANS' Early Closing, Blasts New York Times' Ben Brantley

The producers of the Tony Award-nominated play ORPHANS announced yesterday that the Broadway production will play its final performance on May 19 after 27 previews and 37 regular performances at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre (236 West 45th Street). Kristine Nielsen and Lewis J. Stadlen have been named to receive the annual Richard Seff Award presented by the Actors' Equity Foundation. The award honors a veteran female and male character actor for the best performance in a supporting role in a Broadway or Off-Broadway production.
