Playwrights Horizons presents Far From Heaven, a new musical with book by Tony Award winner and two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist Richard Greenberg (Take Me Out, Three Days of Rain, the current Breakfast at Tiffany's and The Assembled Parties both now on Broadway), music by Tony Award nominee Scott Frankel (Grey Gardens at PH and on Broadway, Finding Neverland) and lyrics by Tony Award nominee Michael Korie (Grey Gardens at PH and on Broadway, The Grapes of Wrath, Finding Neverland). The musical is choreographed by Alex Sanchez (Giant, Fiorello!) and directed by three-time Tony Award nominee Michael Greif (Grey Gardens at PH and on Broadway; Rent, Next to Normal, Giant). The musical is based on the Focus Features/Vulcan Productions motion picture Far From Heaven, written and directed by Todd Haynes. (more...)

Stephen Schwartz to Appear at National Symphony's THE WIZARD AND I, Now thru 5/18

The National Symphony Orchestra Pops will present three performances of The Wizard and I: The Musical Journey of Stephen Schwartz May 16-18 in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall. Led by Principal Pops Conductor Steven Reineke, the performances feature performances by Jeremy Jordan, Norm Lewis, Julia Murney, Jennifer Laura Thompson, and The Washington Chorus. The performances celebrate Stephen Schwartz's 65th birthday as well as the 10th anniversary of the perennially 'popular' Wicked, and Mr. Schwartz will make a special appearance in each of the three programs, performing and sharing stories of the creation of Wicked. Randy Graff to Star in OIL Reading at the Planet Connections Theatre Festivity

Tony Award-winner Randy Graff (City of Angels, Les Miserables, Fiddler on the Roof, A Class Act) will star in a free staged reading of Marco Calvani's comedy OIL on Thursday, June 20 at 7:30pmas a part of the Planet Connections Theatre Festivity, New York's premiere eco-friendly/socially-conscious theatre, music and film festival which will run from May 29-June 23 at the Robert Moss Theatre (440 Lafayette Street) and the Gene Frankel Theatre (24 Bond Street).
