Coeurage Theatre Partners with Hemophilia Foundation, Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation to Raise Funds, 4/18 & 5/11

Coeurage Theatre Company (Jeremy Lelliott, Artistic Director; Nicole Monet, Managing Director), LA's 'Pay What You Want' Company, has announced it will share a portion of box office proceeds from their production of The Yellow Boat with the Hemophilia Foundation of Southern California and the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. Coeurage will also host a Hemophilia Day Carnival on May 17 prior to that evening's performance. (More details on the Carnival will be announced at a later date.) Written by David Saar and directed by Joseph V. Calarco, The Yellow Boat will play one preview performance on Friday, April 18 at 8pm and opens on Saturday, April 19 at 8pm at GTC Burbank.

The Museum of the Moving Image's popular series See It Big! will turn its focus to the movie musical with a fourteen-film celebration of the genre, from today, January 24 through February 28, 2014. Musicals are, by their very nature, filled with spectacle. They are heightened forms of storytelling, in which the narrative is amplified by song and dance, where characters express their innermost feelings in the most extravagant ways imaginable. It is a genre that celebrates excess and stylization, and the best examples of the form can only be truly enjoyed... big!
