Opera Saratoga's Artistic and General Director Lawrence Edelson announced today complete casting for the three exciting new productions that will comprise the company's 2017 Summer Festival, which will build on the company's commitment to producing masterpieces from the operatic cannon, important American works, and works in which dance plays an integral role. In addition, a wide variety of free and ticketed concert events will be presented from May 28th through July 16th at venues throughout the region.

Belmont Ave. in Chicago. Directed by Jessica Thebus, the imaginative and moving drama was written for Ruhl's mother, Kathleen Ruhl, who stars in the Shattered Globe production. Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) received Honorable Mention recognition from the New England Theatre Conference (NETC) 54th Annual Moss Hart Awards for FPAC's 2015 production of The Addams Family. Presented at the 65th annual NETC Convention on October 29, the 2016 Moss Hart Awards honored eight productions from across New England. FPAC's The Addams Family was one of two theatrical productions recognized in the Community Theatre Division. The prestigious awards honor the life of celebrated Broadway playwright, director, and producer Moss Hart. As stated by the NETC, the annual honor "seeks to encourage artistic growth and the highest standards of excellence in theatre."

Following their one-off theatrical re-staging of Ken Loach's seminal work Cathy Come Home at the Barbican in July of this year, the award-winning theatre company Cardboard Citizens has announced a brand new touring production for October, Cathy, based around similar themes. This year marks the marks the both 50th anniversary of Loach's film and the 25th anniversary of the theatre company who work making theatre with and for homeless people.
