Museum of the Moving Image has announced See It Big: Sondheim, a ten-film series devoted to the celebrated composer, lyricist, author, artist, and all-around innovator Stephen Sondheim. When Sondheim died last November, he didn’t just leave behind an extraordinary corpus of work—he had exited a world that his art had forever changed.

The enduring film version of Fiddler on the Roof premiered in November 1971 and became one of the year's biggest hits, earning Academy Awards for Cinematography, Sound and Best Adapted Score. The winner in the latter category was the legendary John Wiliams, soon after to become the world's most famous film composer and win Oscars for his own now-classic music for Jaws, Star Wars, E.T. and Schindler's List.

THE PRODUCERS, the first post-lockdown Desert Theatreworks (DTW) show, is perfect to welcome eager audiences back - a true winner. Ron and Lance Phillips, the married couple that operates DTW, took the opportunity of the hiatus to completely rework the Indio Performing Arts Center, adding a new 250-seat main stage for musicals. As most people know, the Mel Brooks show is loaded with bad taste, but is hilarious nonetheless.

Inland Valley Repertory Theatre has announced Cate Caplin as director of its upcoming livestreaming play, 'Zero Hour.' A one-man play, Frank Minano will portray Zero Mostel -the outgoing and lively American actor best known for his roles as 'Tevye' in 'Fiddler on the Roof' and as 'Max Bialystock' in 'The Producers.'
