Tonight, September 9, some of Broadway's brightest talents will sing completely new arrangements of the hits of Amy Winehouse in the next concert of the BROADWAY SINGS concert series. More than 20 Broadway performers will be accompanied by a full band playing brand new, original orchestrations of the English singer's greatest songs. The concert is the fifth of the series; previously honored were Adele, Michael Jackson, Beyonce, and Stevie Wonder.

Williamstown Theatre Festival Artistic Director Jenny Gersten announces the opening of the sixth production of the 2013 Main Stage season: The World Premiere musical, The Bridges of Madison County, opens tonight and plays on the Main Stage through August 18, following preview performances that began August 1. On the Main Stage, the cast of Animal Crackers (playing June 26 - July 14, 2013) will include Jonathan Brody (Naked Boys Singing), Adam Chanler-Berat (Peter and the Starcatcher), Mara Davi (Death Takes a Holiday), Renee Elise Goldsberry (Good People), Ellen Harvey (How to Succeed...), and Jacob Ming Trent (Hands on a Hardbody), all making their WTF debuts.

Dallas Theater Center announced today the complete cast and creative team for the new rock musical, Fly By Night, directed by Bill Fennelly. This often funny and sometimes deeply moving tale follows a group of New Yorkers during the 1965 blackout. Will Connolly, Michael Mitnick and Kim Rosenstock's vivid characters question the direction of their lives, try to make their dreams come true and fall in love all to the tune of fresh, catchy and original songs. AMAZING GRACE is getting a run at Goodspeed Musicals' developmental Norma Terris Theatre in Chester, CT with an eye toward hitting Broadway. This might seem like a lofty goal given the large scale of the production in a struggling economy that has producers holding on tightly to their investment dollars (even smaller musicals can cost tens of millions of dollars to produce in New York). And the material is religious to boot (religious-themed shows have a hard time getting favorable reviews on the Great White Way.) Given the nothing-short-of-miraculous journey of the musical, so far, however, all things may be possible.
