Musical sparks will be flying at the famed Iridium jazz club March 12-14 as Afro-Caribbean musical legend and nine time Grammy winner Eddie Palmieri joins renowned trumpeter (and Grammy Award winner) Brian Lynch for the the Eddie Palmieri/Brian Lynch Jazz Quartet.

Ravi Coltrane is a critically acclaimed saxophonist, bandleader, composer, producer and founder of the independent record company, RKM Music.

KWMU host Dennis Owsley will present a pre-concert talk, "The New Orleans and St. Louis Trumpet Traditions," at 7:10 p.m. A professional musician since the age of 12, trumpeter Nicholas Payton returns to The Sheldon with a style that embraces his New Orleans upbringing, while reaching for new levels of maturity and sophistication in his performance.

The Sheldon is proud to announce the 2009 - 2010 season of outstanding concerts in the intimate and acoustically perfect Sheldon Concert Hall. As usual, the season includes five series - Jazz at The Sheldon, Fantastic Folk, Sheldon Classics, Saturday Matinees, and Coffee Concerts, as well as Special Concerts and educational programming - all available starting May 13 at 10 a.m.

Tony-winner Idina Menzel can be seen this month on PBS in a new concert, which premiered on January 15, 2009. The evening includes appearances with guest stars Josh Groban and Ravi Coltrane.
