Walnut Street Theatre (WST) continues its 214th season with a comedic romantic romp in Neil Simon's Last of the Red Hot Lovers. Written by the legendary Neil Simon (who received his start at the Walnut with the 1961 premiere of “Come Blow Your Horn”), the production begins previews January 10, opens January 18, and continues through February 5, 2023, on the Walnut's Mainstage.
Shermona Mitchell Named Sound Theatre Co-Artistic Director

Beginning January 1, Shermona Mitchell will ascend to Sound Theatre's co-artistic director position, serving alongside founding artistic director Teresa Thuman. Effective immediately by unanimous board vote, Mitchell will also step down as Board President - where, in a historic first for the organization, in 2021 she became the first Black womxn to lead the board.

Taibi Magar to Direct THE HALF-GOD OF RAINFALL at New York Theatre Workshop

New York Theatre Workshop has announced that Obie Award winner and NYTW Usual Suspect Taibi Magar (Help) will direct the previously announced production of The Half-God of Rainfall by Hay Festival Medal for Poetry winner Inua Ellams (Barber Shop Chronicles), part of NYTW’s 2022/23 season.

The history of colonization of indigenous lands in this country and other countries is a sensitive subject that many shy away from. But then to look at it from the viewpoint of those that have been displaced goes a long way to recognizing the issues and keep them from continuing. Madeline Sayet and her amazing play “Where We Belong”, currently playing at the Seattle Rep gives a wonderful insight into this topic and specifically her viewpoint and how it affected her and her Mohegan culture.
