ALLEGIANCE - A NEW AMERICAN MUSICAL Starring Lea Salonga & More Set for The Old Globe 2012-13 Season - Full Season Announcement, San Diego

The Old Globes 2012-13 Season will feature the World Premieres of two new musicals: Allegiance A New American Musical by Jay Kuo and Lorenzo Thione and A Gentlemans Guide to Love and Murder by Robert L. Freedman and Steven Lutvak. The season also includes George Bernard Shaws Pygmalion in celebration of the classic plays 100th anniversary and the World Premiere of a new adaptation of Henrik Ibsens A Dolls House by Anne-Charlotte Hanes Harvey and Kirsten Brandt. Two recent Broadway hits will make their San Diego debuts at the Globe: David Lindsay-Abaires Good People and Jon Robin Baitzs Other Desert Cities. Rounding out the season are the West Coast Premiere of Bekah Brunstetters Be a Good Little Widow and the Southern California Premiere of Tarell Alvin McCraneys The Brothers Size. ( more...)

44th Annual Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival Lineup Announced

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts will host more than 120 outstanding theater students from colleges and universities across the nation as part of the 44th annual Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF), April 16-21, 2012. In January and February of this year, these artists from eight regions presented their outstanding work and were selected to travel to Washington, D.C. for an expense-paid trip to participate in National Festival events taking place at the Kennedy Center. The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts today announced casting for its production of First You Dream: The Music of Kander & Ebb in the Eisenhower Theater June 8 to July 1, 2012. The musical revue will star Heidi Blickenstaff, James Clow, Alan H. Green, Leslie Kritzer, Patina Miller, and Matthew Scott. Originally produced at Signature Theatre in Virginia and co-conceived by David Loud and Eric Schaeffer, the production features music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and will be directed by Eric Schaeffer. Jon Kalbfleisch will conduct the 22-piece Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra. Press opening night is Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. ( more...)
