The Public Theater yesterday announced complete casting today for AS YOU LIKE IT, the first show of the 50th Anniversary season of free Shakespeare in the Park at the Delacorte. Directed by Daniel Sullivan, AS YOU LIKE IT will begin previews on Tuesday, June 5 and continue for four weeks through Saturday, June 30, with an official press opening on Thursday, June 21. The Public Theater continues its popular Shakespeare Salon Series this month with an engaging conversation with Director Daniel Sullivan, who will talk about this summer's upcoming Shakespeare in the Park production of AS YOU LIKE IT. Moderated by Shakespeare Initiative Director Barry Edelstein, this intimate event is being held tonight, May 10 at 6:30 p.m. at Chinatown Brasserie (380 Lafayette Street). Montclair Film Festival (MFF) will feature live events including interviews with Oscar- winners Michael Moore and Olympia Dukakis, a conversation with actor Patrick Wilson, Oliver Platt, and a discussion with New Jersey native Michael Uslan, author of The Boy Who Loved Batman, on how he acquired film rights to the caped crusader and labored to bring the character to screen. Confirmed: Donna Murphy to Star in INTO THE WOODS in Central Park by BWW News Desk - Apr 11, 2012
As first reported exclusively by BroadwayWorld.com last week, the Public Theater confirmed today that Tony Award-winner Donna Murphy has been cast as The Witch in Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's beloved musical INTO THE WOODS, directed by Timothy Sheader with co-direction by Liam Steel. Murphy last performed at the Delacorte in the Shakepeare in the Park production of The Mystery of Edwin Drood in 1985. INTO THE WOODS will begin previews on Monday, July 23 and continue for five weeks through Saturday, August 25 with an official press opening on Thursday, August 9.

Nick Blaemire, currently starring in the Broadway Revival of GODSPELL, will perform a set with his band the Hustle at the rock venue Bowery Electric on Monday, April 9th at 8:30pm. The band recently released their debut self-titled EP, which will be available for purchase at the venue as well as digitally on iTunes, CD Baby, Bandcamp, Amazon and Spotify. Hard copies are also being sold at the Circle in the Square Theatre, where GODSPELL plays eight shows a week. (more...)
