Burning Coal Theatre Company Announces 8-Week Classes for Adults

Burning Coal Theatre Company's artistic director, Jerome Davis, will conduct an eight week acting class based on the concepts the legendary acting teacher, Uta Hagen. The class will take place Mondays from 7 to 10 pm, June 10 through July 29th. The class is a scene study class which emphasizes ideas discussed in Ms. Hagen's landmark book Respect for Acting. Winners were announced last night, Monday, May 6, 2013, at the 2013 James Beard Foundation Awards, the nation's most prestigious recognition program honoring professionals in the food and beverage industries. During a ceremony hosted by popular American actor Oliver Platt at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall, awards in the Restaurant and Chef and the Design categories were presented, as well as a number of special achievement awards. The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts today announced Finn Wittrock as The Actor, Sarah Wayne Callies as The Actress, and Shuler Hensley as The Critic in the Kennedy Center production of The Guardsman in the Eisenhower Theater May 25 to June 23, 2013. Based on the 1910 comedy by Hungarian playwright Ferenc Molnar, The Guardsman features a new literal translation by Richard Nelson and is directed by Gregory Mosher. Summertime Entertainment has inked a deal with Clarius Entertainment for a wide theatrical release, with significant prints & advertising support in the U.S. and Canada, for the 3-D animated musical film "Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return." The release date will be slated for 1stquarter of 2014. As part of the pact, Home Entertainment will be provided by a major studio partner, with sub-distribution rights handled by others. The company is beginning discussions for international distribution for the film, which had a prior working title "Dorothy of Oz." (more...)
