Shameless! For a Cause is a special cabaret fundraiser happening this weekend at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre. The brain child of Ari Weinberg, the evening aims to raise money for LGBTQ youth initiatives while bringing together some of our country's best and brightest for an evening of song and laughter. Set to perform are Sharron Matthews, Michael Hughes, casts of Theatre Sheridan's RENT and Dancap's West Side Story and more. Ari Weinberg sat down to talk with BWW about the event, the charities and why it means so much to him.

Pace University's Musical Theatre Class of 2015 presented a cabaret on May 4th and 5th at at Joe's Pub. The show, entitled Hatched, was a presentation of notable composers' works written in the past three months, including the likes of Shaina Taub, Niko Tsakalakos, Gordon Leary, Julia Meinwald, Drew Gasparini, Zoe Sarnak, Ryan Scott Oliver, and the students of Pace's Inaugural 'Writing for the Musical Theatre' class.

Mickey & Judy was a sold out hit at last year's Toronto Fringe Festival and is now off to NYC and Edinburgh! Before it makes its' international debut the show will return to The Toronto Centre for the Arts for one night only on April 21st, 2012. The enigmatic and extremely funny star, Michael Hughes, took a few minutes to talk to BWW about the show, his love of showtunes, Smash versus Glee and more.

Michael Hughes is by his own admission a huge Broadway geek. He wears that badge proudly as he brings his one man cabaret show to this year's Toronto Fringe. Entitled Mickey & Judy, it's a love letter to music theatre and all the music theatre geeks who grew up in an era before GLEE made being a geek cool. Michael took a few minutes to talk to BWW about what we can expect from his show, and why he thinks it would be perfect for BWW readers.

The West Side Story Suite began this weekend and is presented by the National Ballet of Canada. It is part of Luminato, The Toronto Festival for the Arts and Creativity. While it is primarily dance - the show features vocals from seven performers, including up and comers Michael Hughes and Gabi Epstein who talk to BWW about what someone can expect if they venture out to the ballet.

Acting Up Stage's popular Dark Night Cabaret series was kicked off in early February with Unexpressed: An Evening of Songs from the Heart featuring Michael Hughes with special guest Callandra Dendias. These are two of Toronto's most promising young stars, and here we have them singing Suddenly Seymour from Little Shop of Horrors.
